At 10:15pm today, 20/10/2020, my VTV set top box which is on WiFi lost connection to the internet. No other devices on my network had problems. Internet resumed by rebooting the box at about 10:30pm

I wonder if it's the same problem I had.

I've only started using the VTV box for a week or so, no major issues to report but for some reason at around that time I wasn't able to watch any recorded programs (didn't get the "watch recording" option in My Recordings). All other devices were connected to the internet so I ended up switching the box off at the wall for about 5 minutes, rebooted and recorded programs were able to be watched after that.

No the Apps didn't work either and the WiFi connection information seemed to be missing in settings. It was jus tblank.

This happened again at approximately 1148pm yesterday losing the wifi information in the Settings, More Settings, Network, WiFi. The SID was still accessible from an Android phone.
I had to again reboot the VTV set top box.

Yes Monday evening, but earlier than Ivan, probaby around 630. Pulled the plug on the box for 30 seconds then it all came back when I turned on. Internet was working fine on everything else. Message on box basically said my internet was not working. Ethernet connected to Vodafone modem on VF plan (fibre)

Also had same problem when flicked on last Sunday to watch AB's v Aussie at Eden. Same again had to pull plug, wait and restart.

Been happenening quite a lot to me lately too, and I thought going from spark ufb to voda ufb wouldn’t have made a difference!

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

I'm on Spark UFB so I don't think it has to do with the ISP you are on. I am wondering if it is an update of VTV Set Top Box, or if there is a router in common which is the problem. I use an ASUS RT-AX3000 with a fixed 5GHz control channel.

The problems are all Vodas.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Still using the smart modem provided by spark, voda’s modem didn’t even turn on.

Most of the time I think when Vodafone TV says "can't connect to internet" It means it can't connect to their Kaltura servers? Youtube or Netflix or other apps might still work. Perhaps this message should be reworded

Can support the "ISP shouldn't affect it" part, I'm on 2degrees ultimate UFB on a wired connection and I also have had some issues the last few days

Is there anyone using VTV with a Vodafone fibre connection and a Vodafone supplied router? If so, are you experiencing the same reliability concerns that other users are reporting?

It would be good to be able to firmly put the "it's not Vodafone's fault" defence to rest.

Hi, I think you are correct and Grant has mentioned that before, I would have thought that Voda would have an on shore replication of those auth servers rather than reaching back to Eu, would make sense but who knows.

I'm experiencing another unusual issue. Two mornings in a row now, when turning the VodafoneTV on, presented with a error message saying the VodafoneTV needs to be reset. Have followed thru the reset process, and removed and re-activated the VodafoneTV.

First time this has happened in 6 months of using the VodafoneTV and no change to internet connection or other setting, everything status quo.

Only time will tell if a third reset is required tomorrow, at which point I'll probably try to find out from Vodafone whats happening. Not exactly practical to need to do a full reset and activation each time we want to watch the morning news.

Connected via Ethernet, Gigabit fibre 2Degrees.
