starspangle: Do you think later in the future telecom will allow connections on a phone line that was previously connect, in other words, connecting NDSL to a disconnected phone line.
starspangle: Thats just goes to show what a 3rd world country this is in terms of internet, as every other country who offers NDSL including aussie can connect NDSL to a phone line that hasn't had a physcial phone connection for some time.
Telecom really need to upgrade their entire system if they want to be in the compititive market, they aint going to get any where doing this, I say sell AAPT and concentrate on Telecom NZ, AAPT is just losing Telecom too much money.
richms: So if I have an unused second line wired into the house, I cant get a brand new ndsl connection provisioned on it without getting a phone number connected first and then changing to ndsl?

I think that you have missed the point here. You will be able to connect a nDSL line into a building that has not had a working line for some time. What you will not be able to do is connect a nDSL line with WorldxChange and pick up your old, and now disconnected, Telecom number. In that situation you will need a new WorldxChange number.
The same thing applies in the Mobile space. You can take your Vodafone number to Telecom and vice versa (to a point), but you cannot get a new 027 number connected on Vodafone nor a new 021 number on Telecom.

in other words like this
connected land line>3 months later disconnected line> 8 months later>NDSL>ABC company's VoIP
or can it only be
Connected line>customer link>Disconnect phone line>add NDSL>port old telecom number as VoIP
If both can happen then that is going to save people a lot of money

starspangle: well that would have saved a lot of space on here had someone read my origanl post about it properly.
I asked in the original post are we able to connect NDSL to a phone line that was previously connected but now disconnected and the answer was no, but now it seems the answer is yes.
I don't care about who has who's numbers connected as VoIP, thats not a concern, I just wanted to know if NDSL can be connected to a copper line that had it's number disconnected months before hand.

Lorenceo: My nDSL is online.
Not perfect yet though, my modem is syncing with fullspeed up, but my upload still seems to be limited to 128k. Interleaving has also returned. Will be ringing Xnet tomorrow to get that sorted if it doesn't fix itself overnight. Then hopefully by Friday my landline number will be ported to VFX.
When it's all done, it'll be time to go for a streak.
Big thanks to Evon at Xnet, she's been really helpful.
modcar:
My highspeed is back on now, I know were not supposed to troll - but.......it took telecom about 30 hours to enable adsl at their end. ADSL was already installed on my phone at the exchange etc. I'm sorry, but come on, no wonder not very many people like them or their service!
