no Vodafone TV, although my friend who came around today was talking up the one he has, reckons it's really good. For now I'll just stick to using a combo of terrestrial freeview, Xbox, and Chromecast. I'll be in the market for a new 4k TV in the near future anyway, I figure that should have all the apps we'll need

100/10 is a really old plan, i'm left wondering how you sneaked through the net to stay on it.

If you want a really old plan I'm on 50/2 and despite all the talk about UltraHFC or Max, I have been unable to convince Voda to do anything with the link, in the store or from the phone team.  Yes they have offered fibre but I have been trapped on a T-Box which sadly is about to go away in the new year.

The website online won't let me see any options to upgrade, it insists I call the service desk.  Maybe after Christmas the Voda team will talk to me, I can but hope.

Also waiting for the call to end my T-Box :-(

Love my T-box.

I am on, according to account, on Ultra Fast Cable 50 . I assume that is 50 down and 2 up.

All that has happened over the years is that the cap has gone up without my intervention.

Judging by this ad I'm seeing on both Facebook and Instagram the HFC network still has a future, especially with this pricing which I suspect would get people to move away from Fibre (or stop current HFC users going to Fibre)

My stats appear better from speed tests than from SamKnows monitoring 24x7 because I'm usually on at off peak times.

SamKnows usually says 724-750 Mbps max and 625-655 Mbps average so these latest April stats were lower than normal. It's OK for a 20% discount over fibre.

Package

Min      Max      Avg

399.7  713.4   607.3

Yeah - I suspect that for most people speeds faster than that are not going to provide any advantage.
Is there a simple answer to how much AskSam costs please? I think I have to sign up on their website to find out, which rings alarm bells.

We had an interesting issue - every so often our cable connection would drop to about 20 Mbps. Very intermittent and either power cycling the modem, or Vodafone CSR running a test (?!?!?) would reset it back. Vodafone lost contact with the modem when this happened. CSR and I agreed it seemed like a cable issue.
Downers Dude came round and looked (pity I didn't - opps!). He noticed that we still had a splitter from the T-Box we no longer use. That seemed to fix things. He also checked the appearance of the connections in the street.

Seems to have done the trick! Been going well since. Very fast answering the phone too - no rings before the CSR answered, twice! Yea Vodafone. Within the house 'Super WiFi' seems to be helping too. Given it has no extra charge for most of us, just fill in a form and it turns up. https://www.vodafone.co.nz/broadband/superwifi/

Cable seems alive and well as far as I can tell.

I'm currently on HFC 100/10. Chorus are at my house installing Fibre right now. I just rang Vodafone to ask about upgrading and I was offered Ultrafast HFC Max for cheaper, sales person telling me cable is better than fibre. Chorus guy is amused. I'm guessing Vodafone don't want to pay Chorus to switch people over. Could anyone advise me if I should switch to fibre?

ETA:
Here is Vodafone's latest HFC summary:

Vodafone is offering HFC Max which is around 900 down and 100 up, Fibre Gig speed is around 900 down and 400 up so it comes down to how much upload speed do you need?

If cost is a factor then go for Cable

Thanks, good points - I think I'll stick with cable for now, revisit after 12 month contract.
