Reading with interest as my Telecom 1 year contract period runs out this coming weekend.
Will be calling Vodafone then, so hope this VDSL offer deal continues a while longer.

Did some testing just now, 9-9.30am before work. Perfect! Stable at around 150ms no lag, no spiking. The test will be tonight to see if the same issue occurs as the previous evening.

Interesting. I'm having appalling battle.net lag as well, PVP is pretty much a waste of time for me. Mind PM'ing me your customer details so I can dig some more?

Hi, just a quick question about switching to Vodafone VDSL...

I'll be coming from ADSL on Telecom, and am now out of their one year retainer period.

I know I can go online and order VDSL from Vodafone, but I take it I have to cancel with Telecom also myself? And that probably has a 1 month notice period?

Has anyone done the above and how did it all work for you?

When switching power companies for instance, the new company handles the notification and termination/transfer of service with your existing power provider, and then a final read bill turns up from that old company. From memory ( I last did this a year ago...) the internet/phone services are still a bit more manual and hands on from the customers point of view than that?

Thought I should come back to this thread and share my results. A few days following my 10 day period with Vodafone and my gaming issues seem to have magically resolved. Am no longer getting latency and spiking issues that plagued my first couple of weeks with them which is good but a hassle none the less

Vodafone are meant to cancel everything for you but I wouldn't trust them, you should definitely make sure you have confirmed cancellation with Telecom also.

This is always a good idea and not a matter of trust but an issue of a provider can only cancel services they shift to themselves which leaves a number of services that could potentially not be cancelled at the loosing providers end. A common example of this is a customer has a dialup account with old provider which does not get automatically cancelled when the broadband is brought acrosss.

The second thing to notes is don't take this step until the new provider has taken over the services otherwise you can get a situation where the old provider disconnects the services before the new provider can take them over.

Please note: I have a professional bias towards Vodafone.

can someone please point me to vdsl settings when setting up a new (non-vodafone) modem

ive had the supplied huwaei modem going well for the last 2 weeks. yesterday i purchased an asus n66u yesterday but for the life of me cant find any instructions online to get it going on vodafone vdsl

voda call centre said the authentication process has recently changed for vdsl and no longer uses a username/password system ... thats all he knew though

Hi, Our support team doesnt support other modems.
I will advise:

IP Routing, IPOE
VLAN ID 10
DHCP from ISP.
No Username or PW.

up and going. for the record:

this was after i updated the modem firmware, some of the fields changed slightly after the update (for example vdsl wan ptm was simply ptm)

Do I sign with Vodafone and then cancel with Telecom?
I'm assuming I'd then be liable for an extra month with Telecom ~ assuming they have a minimum 1 month notice period? (It's damn hard to find that type of info on their site/documentation).

Ready to pull the trigger here! Currently on around 12.20Mbps down, and 0.95Mbps up on ADSL 2+

Sign up with new provider, wait for new provider to take over services & for said services to be working, then give old provider a bell to tidy up any leftovers & make sure they're not billing you anymore. :)

Just signed up to the Naked VDSL Entertain package under the premise that I would get a $30 discount on the VDSL plan for linking my on account mobile to it and an extra $30 for my on account mobile plan. I received my bill for my mobile and there is nothing on there about the credit. I need to check if what I read on here is correct about this offer please as I rang your customer services team today and they were of no assistance at all.

Hi

You get a discount on your broadband plan when you link a valid On Account mobile account. But there is no change to your mobile's monthly charge.

Pop into the Vodafone Community and we can check everything is as it should be.

This is not the case at all you don't get $30 off fixed line and mobile plan, It has only ever been a discount on the fixed line plan

Thanks for clearing that up. I had some issues with speed prior to switching to VDSL but I believe I have to wait the 10 day period for my router to optimise?
