Hi Simon, glad you like them.

There may be early termination charges on your contract - not sure what you've signed for or how long exactly you have left so you'd need to talk that through with the shop/call centre/etc... Anyone can sign up for them, not just newbies.

The plans don't go live until September 3 though... Just giving you guys an early heads up.

Are there any other addons? For example, being able to addon unlimited weekend calling to Vodafone mobiles instead of purchasing it as part of the Choose 60 Talkie plan?

Hey Paul,

Love the new plans but I really think it sucks that I'm gonna have to pay in excess of $100 to change my plan.. I understand early termination charges are a deterrent from switching networks, but if I'm still paying Vodafone my monthly bill, surely I should be able to change my plan at no extra cost to me? I mean, if I'm going to pay the termination fee then I might as well get a free new phone from Telecom and sign up to a plan with them.. Know what I mean?

At this stage, going by what Paul has posted, there doesn't appear to be any extra addons. But like anything, this can & probably will change no doubt *sometime* in the future.

In response to an earlier question about Motormouth and why Vodafone's offering cheaper calls to other Vodafone customers...

The thing is that the on-net calls free up your any-network minutes.

On Talker you get unlimited Vodafone calls in the weekends to any Vodafone number and any time to your BestMate(s). it also means those calls don't come out of your 60 minute bundle, effectively increasing your time on those calls as well.

TXTer is similar but obviously with a TXT bent to it.

Mega is designed for Vodafone on-net community but also has 20 minutes of any network calling as well as BestMate. This is SIGNIFICANTLY more value than the Motormouth On Account plan with more on-net TXTs, free BestMate and 20 any network minutes.

Yes, Talker and TXTer can be upgraded to greater You Choose plans than the Choose 60 mentioned in the release at $39.95 so if you want more minutes you can get them.

That's the complete set of add-ons for now, Simon... not that the party ends here. We'll have more stuff coming up in the next few months and I can't give anything away but it's All Good Fun. I can't wait.

Hi Red,
Changing a plan and resigning your contract are two totally different things. I doubt you would have to pay a fee to change from a Choose 60 to a "talker" plan for example. However, if you wanted to start your contract again (resign) and get a handset subsidy/extra minutes then it would only be fair to pay a resign fee.

Hey that's fantastic, cheers for clearing that up. From what I'd read prior in this thread, it sounded like in order to sign up for one of these plans, your current plan would have to be terminated, thus incurring the relevant fee. I'll be stoked if that's not the case :D

I doubt that would be the case. I'm sure VF, like most companies, don't want their customers to churn - regardless of wether they are going to sign up again. Makes their numbers look bad :-)

Wow. The bestmate thing is good, and to a limited degree, so are the new choose addons.

The bestmate for $12 will probably be the only thing that will keep the partners (formerly my) connection alive as previously there was little justification for keeping the connection. She didn't want to go to Telecom because of the lack of Chinese language based handsets, so it was either goto prepaid or port to telecom (as a last resort).

Pity one has to be locked into a 24 month term to get the other benefits...

Sounds like another plan so they would resign you and there normal resign rules would apply.

From Vodafone.co.nz:

Early re-sign fees

Sometimes it makes sense to renew your Vodafone contract before it ends. If that's possible on your contract, an early re-sign fee may apply.

12 Month Contracts - Early re-signs are not possible in the first 10 months. Early re-signs are possible in months 11 and 12 without charge.
24 Months - Early re-signs are not possible in the first 12 months. An early re-sign fee of $150 will apply from months 13 to 18 if you choose to re-sign onto a NEW term. Early re-signs are possible after 18 months without charge.
36 Months - Early re-signs are not possible in the first 12 months. An early re-sign fee of $150 will apply from months 13 to 24 if you choose to re-sign onto a NEW term. Early re-signs are possible after 24 months without charge.

But in the instance of changing from a 24-month Choose 60 plan, are you not merely changing the details of the plan, as opposed to re-signing entirely all over again? I'm still on a 24 month term, still get 60 included minutes, it's just the bits round the edges that would change..?

Hi Paul, I think there might be a slip-up in the wording..

The Media release states "customers can choose unlimited weekend calling to any New Zealand number."

But the plan states "Unlimited weekend calling and TXTing to Vodafone mobiles" which is not "any national number"... a slip?

Questions for you...

Are the "3G Bonus minutes" still included if you buy a handset?

Can "Base plan" users "You can transfer from a You Choose Base plan to another Vodafone on account plan for no charge at any time, as long as you carry over your remaining contract term" to these new offers?

Is there any chance we will ever see a bundle or bestmate for MMS "PXT"??? the bulk of my usage is for photo and video (I have an N95 which is designed around it's camera)

And I still think there should be a "minumum spend threshold" with fully choseable options instead of a pre-packaged "Core plan" with addons.

But overall, Great to see this moving.

Certainly a GREAT step!!!! I can see and welcome Vodafone's strategy too, especially with the "Mega" Plan, to lower prices and incl more mins/txt for "intra-network" users.... No problem, friends are on Vodafone anyway.....

BUT, BUT... And Paul, if you take note of this, it'll be great......

***The BIGGEST single obstcale preventing a big uptake of this plans***** (and similarly when Motormouth first came out):.......

You CANNOT bring the same number, from Prepay to Plan!!!! This is ridiculous! Enable this, and it'll be SO much easier for people to change over! This is probably the only reason why I'm considering not to change over to plan too....

It makes me laugh that to move my number from prepay vodafone to on account vodafone
I'd have to buy the cheapest Telecom handset on prepay then port my number over to Telecom Prepay then port back over to Vodafone... whata hassle but I'll probably end up doing it...

paradoxsm: But isnt there a size limit on PXT's anyways so you would have to shrink your 5MP photos to like 640x480, defeating the purpose of taking 5MP photos. I mean wasn't the point of PXT'ing was being able to share quick pic's with my friends. Can do that now through Myspace/Facebook/Ringo and the likes, prefer to do that then spend money on a PXT.
