I am not sure why you need to plug the Sure Signal unit in a Gb switch if the switch is close to the router

Because I'm out of LAN ports on router.

Well now I'm confused. The connected device light on the sure signal won't light up with the phone on WIFI or 3G

😳🔫

OK got it going now plugged into router exactly same issue as before though.

See link here 2 pictures

1. Wifi on - no connection to sure signal zero cellular coverage
2. Wifi off - connected to SureSignal and full coverage

What happens if you switch the data connection on the phone off first and then switch on the wifi?

I'm guessing the phone sets up a data session with the sure signal but when you switch on the wifi, it drops the data connection (and therefore the overall connection) to the sure signal.

Yes I know that 3G has separate voice and data "parts" but intrigued to see what the handset does under these conditions.

I'll let you know. Just firing the SureSignal up again. It's taking a while to connect back up. Once it's done I'll test that and post back.

Turned the data connection off and it disconnected from the SureSignal I then turned wifi on and it remained disconnected. Once disconnected from the SureSignal box I walked back into the house and was back on the weak cell tower signal.

See if you can force the phone to sit on 3g under the network settings (ie not to move to 2g or 4g) and try again?

Selected WCDMA only on the handset. Switched wifi on same as before, kicked of the SureSignal and back to cell tower.

Bizarre.

How about moving the SS as far away as you can from the wifi router. Give that a go

So you turn off wi-fi, phone starts a 3G data session, SureSignal lights up? Makes sense to me.

I actually tried that last night, I plugged the SureSignal into a LAN port in the lounge as far away from the router in the garage as I could get and still no joy.

Appreciate the reply though thanks.

Can you try with a cable in the port that works on the router.  Just use the cable that came with it and move it as far away as you can. The cable is about a meter long. If that still fails see the PM i sent you
