Because of the Static IP, They have been opted out of the move, so I can't get any more info now.

That is a good outcome, you most likely have your own modem in place as well, and been forced onto a Vodafone modem would not be ideal

Not impressed with the arrogance of the company - "We'll be moving you......"   Where is the customer in this?

@cshwone Read the terms and conditions of your provider forced plan changes are covered!

Changing technologies though?  Next thing you know theyll be moving everyone from UFB  to Ultrafast UFC because its a better plan

My parents had a letter along these lines maybe a year or so back, and were shifted across to 4G fixed wireless from ADSL. The process has obviously been in place for a while, but it seems less clear cut moving from VDSL.

Regardless of what is the best fit for the customer It's better for Vodafone's Bottom line for as many customers as possible on HFC or 4G as they own those networks and don't have to pay for the "last mile" for Copper and Fibre which is Circa $40 to $65+GST

In the case of the OP he has a solid 40mbps on VDSL which means within 1ikm of the exchange/cabinet and intends to migrate to fibre once ducts are done

On 4G he may get more than 40mbps but his latency will increase and it will not be consistent and will vary based how many mobile phones are attached to his tower at any given time

Has anyone managed to opt out of this? Got the same email today and I have 100mb VDSL (next to cabinet). No Fibre in the area.

I wonder if they are guaranteeing a minimum bandwidth. I considered moving from VDSL to 4G wireless but 4G speed in my area drops from 40+ Mbps to < 5Mbps during bad weather.

Surely you can threaten to break contract if they're trying to provide a worse service? Lots of other isps would be more than happy to give you VDSL

Will find out when we speak. I’d rather pay more and stay with my VDSL. Otherwise I’ll break contract and move. Just such a time waster. The hassle of calling and dealing with VF. I only stayed with them and resigned late last year as was scared to move coz they’d cock something up.

Flick them a message through social media, they seem more proficient there. Or tag the CEO in this thread ;)
