This always happens to me, whenever I go to upgrade some thing new comes out or is hinted at and so I don't upgrade because I want to see how things go with it before being locked into a contract. Can you put a date on when an announcement will be made?

There will be no announcement it will just be a BAU change but good change, I might mention something here

Kodiack: Vodafone, THANKS AGAIN for finally implementing unlimited plans. A couple of techs were here to install the Internet, television, and phone services, and the difference is night and day. The speeds have improved over 1000% from the ADSL line!

The power levels blew my mind when I viewed them as well - all of the power levels were no more than ±1 dBmV away from 0!

I've put out the good word on Twitter and told some friends about these plans. I simply can't find anything else that competes, short of waiting a ridiculous amount of time for UFB. Even then, UFB still doesn't offer downstream speeds that are this fast, outside of the 200 Mbps trials in some select areas.

It's nice to see 8 downstream DOCSIS channels and four upstream channels too. For the longest time, my ISP in the United States only had 4/1 channel bonding for a 100/5 Mbps line, and then bumped that up to 8/1 after upgrading the nodes due to several complaints about congestion/oversubscribing.

This connection looks like it'll continue satisfying for a long time to come.

A transparent proxy will cache files that are requested by one user and serve that file to another user, instead of going to the origin server - it's local (inside the ISP network) instead of having to go some overseas server for the same file over and over.

The one Telstraclear used (and Vodafone got with the cable network) requires some "special attention" every few weeks to kick it hard in the back and start working again...

I have always had a love/hate relationship with Vodafone staff who answer queries on geekzone. If I was in Vodafone marketing I would be cringing at the way some answer questions and insist that you either answer in a friendly manner or NOt at all. But I am not in Vodafone marketing.

Teasing customers with titbits just infuriates customers....so why bother?

It is quite sad that due to appalling customer service (although we are told this is being worked on) a lot of folk have no choice but to resort to geekzone for their troubles.

I am in Kelburn. It was a really frustrating before Vodafone rolled out their unlimited plans since I had to use really crummy ADSL as shown for that. The signal strength was too poor for excellent speeds, and VDSL was unfortunately entirely out of the question even though this building is about a two minute walk from the exchange. I'm guessing the phone lines were routed in some weird fashion for the signals to be so poor. Nevertheless, I doubt there would be any improvements on the phone lines anytime soon, so going with Vodafone was a no-brainer. The connection quality is nothing short of superb.

how much data are you doing each month? because before VF were forced to launch unlimited, they did have 500GB plans, so presumably you are doing a lot in excess of that?
