Really impressed so far with product/support/commitment to community/development and improvement.
Speaking of improvement my wishlist includes being able to use the technician USB port for my RF keyboard dongle.

Really appreciate the positive feedback. The TV team at Vodafone is working incredibly hard to make this a great product. Only way to make it better is to listen to users and to incrementally iterate.
Good idea re keyboard support. Added to the list of potential future enhancements.

Also for a Gen3 list a SPDIF out port would be wonderful as TV analog audio output slightly desyncs lipsync for me.
I am regularly having problems with fast forward going back 40 minutes after pausing for 12 minutes on TV One and then pushing play and then pushing fast forward. Is there any way of avoiding this as it will then not fast forward past the 40 minutes behind time.
I still believe that this Vodafone Gen2 Set Top Box has a lot of potential though so I am going to continue to stick with it as I believe that cloud recording is the future of DVR, and all things considered it is a good concept and will I believe be much better after the bugs are fixed with updates after the Rugby World Cup blackout on changes.

Unfortunately, we are unlikely to support SPDIF going forward, as HDMI is arguably the trend for audio connectivity going forward. (We actually have SPDIF port on Gen1 box, but it is not available on Gen2 box.)
When it comes to lip-sync, normally the receiving audio device (TV, soundbar, etc) have an audio delay setting (in ms) to ensure that there are no audio out-of-sync over HDMI. Have you tried that on your TV?

i found the gen 2 box can output Dolby atmos from Netflix so I’m pretty stoked with that
Should the VFTVR Vodafone Gen2 Set Top TV Box preferably be put on a subnet which limits access to only the internet via a NAT firewall, as a Linux IoT device, as a security measure, or does it run security software, such as a firewall plus anti-virus/anti-malware software, and have regular updates done to the operating system from a security stand point which obviates the need for this?
I use Spark as my ISP with the Huawei HG659B as my router so could easily put the Set Top VFTV box on my Guest Wi Fi network which would limit its access to only the internet and not my home network, or is there good reason to have it setup with access to my main home network?

Yes, that is pretty cool indeed if you are lucky enough to have a Dolby Atmos capable audio set-up! Noting that as soon as linear channels, SKY and Freeview, support Atmos, we can enable on VodafoneTV. (5.1 and 2.0 today depending on channel.)
Noting that VodafoneTV Gen2 box is also HDR ready.

There is no need for the STB to sit on its own subnet. The normal set-up is for the STB to sit on the single private (RFC1918) LAN subnet behind the NAT broadband router together with all your other home devices.
The STB is designed as a secure device and we can update the firmware over-the-air as required. (This is of course how we incrementally ad features.)

Was not sure if I could say this, but the VodafoneTV box does _unofficially_ support a USB keyboard. Can be used to navigate the UI via arrow keys etc. Unfortunately, it does not allow you to enter passwords etc via keyboard without using arrow keys, as this is more of an engineering feature.
Noting that this feature may be removed in future releases!

Hmmm. Very strange indeed. I have just asked our test team to try to replicate.

Could not agree more! (But I am slightly biased :-)).
Rest assured that we have an intense focus not only on new roadmap features that will be incrementally rolled out, but also on software quality and stability.
Will be cool if you guys can add the ability to hide specific channels (that way I can hide all the Sky channels I don't subscribe to/not interested in)

You can permanently hide the SKY pay channels today by going to Settings > Content Settings > SKY Channels > Hide. This will hide these channels if you are unsubscribed to them.
You can also temporarily show Freeview channels only by using the Freeview filter in EPG (push Back button in EPG to get to filter bar).

I think the question is more of one of being able to hide those Sky channels that aren't part of the user's subscription(s). So he has a Sky subscription but has not subscribed to all Sky channels so wants to hide those not subscribed to. This could possibly be done in a subscription management web page on a PC/Mobile/iPad/Mac etc browser.
