Too afraid to run the beta even though we're probably approaching RC now.

Wish they'd push an updated carrier bundle to 14.7.1...

I've also noticed it. No noticeable difference between 3G/4G (or 2G for that matter - I had a 1.5 hour call that got handed down last week onto GSM).

Turned off my Suresignal for now (provides coverage for the downstairs office), will definitely put it through its paces tomorrow as I usually use between 60-200 (mainly to landline numbers) minutes per weekday. Will be interesting to see how it goes with mesh.

Call quality sounds the same as VoLTE, which makes sense as I believe they share essentially the same technology.

Dumb question; if you are in an area with a good cellular signal will wifi calling still be active? Or does it preferentially chose cellular over wifi when you place a call?

It will always prefer WiFi if connected.

Thanks for clarifying.

This has got me wondering about the potential to be able to make and receive calls from multiple devices around the home. For example, could wifi calling theoretically be expanded to allow me to take a call on my Macbook Pro if my iPhone happens to be in another room or turned off?

I know that Apple already have a solution for this but it's clunky because it requires everything to be routed through your iPhone.

I hope this is actually the case with Vodafone!

2degrees certainly doesn't do this.
We have basically no cell coverage at home but sometimes you do get a bar of signal randomly.
If you're on a wifi call and the phone gets that tiny signal the call drops.

And when is that likely to be, considering we're about 20 minutes inland from Oamaru? 😆

One person who’s on the iOS 15 beta.

It’s not gonna be available on 14.7.1 unless Vodafone says otherwise.

Actually @MikeHales is this something you can comment on or maybe someone from the team can answer?

Call quality seems ok. Had one call drop so far :(

Still a lot clearer than 2D calling.

Will report on how we go in some serious meetings.
