Don't know for certain but it's priority for the product team. I'm a cable customer too so as keen as the next dude! Smile

Still watching the space but starting to burn a hole in the screen.

Really...

Snap - $97 gives me 50gb of data, unlimited YouTube (which is fantastic for me because my new TV has a YouTube client built in and the last time we ran it for 2 hours we chewed 8Gb), unlimited iSky.  I confess, last time I looked at Snap they didn't represent value... but that's very clearly changed.

That would represent ~300gb a month in value to me.

Last year I cancelled our phone lines and our alarm company.  They're all on IP now, so moving for me is much easier now.

I'm looking for more value now and I'm not going to wait for ever just 'watching this space' while the product department push numbers around the desk.

Have you seen this http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=44&topicid=90138

and this subsequent page http://www.telstraclear.co.nz/sub-sites/homeplan-usage/index.htm

Data caps are being upsized from the end of the month and the extra packs are being disbanded and just going using the 1GB extra for $2 or 2GB for $2 for the higher data plans.

Edit: just went back and read through where the original quote was replying too and seems it may have been in regards to the cable plans. if so, you'll be able to disregard what I just wrote above. sorry again.

Yip I've just been pouring over that and it really doesn't represent value if I've done my numbers right but I'd love some feed back...

Snap - $97 - 50Gb, YouTube, Google, iSky (so ~300gb to me)- add a 2Talk service for $23 and get 2 phone lines - $120

Telstra - $115 - 60Gb, TradeMe, some random stuff, 1 phone line, mobile calling at 41c(?), smart phone services I use (Voice mail - $10, Call Waiting - $4, CallerId - $4, Call diversion - $4, 3 way calling - $4 =  $26) = $141.

Not sure where Snaps call center is located and if I deal with an English speaking person.

But compare the different just in dollar terms and the technical features.  I'm scared to start Orcon's new plans against that.

Got an email just now:

Thank you for you preregistration on our new and exciting Steam content offering.

As you are aware Steam offers members of the gaming community the ultimate online game platform with access to over 1,100 games and TelstraClear is now offering unmetered access to our TelstraClear content server for our residential phone line and broadband customers.

In addition to this we have created new broadband bundles focused on customers with higher monthly usage.

Waiting for the phone call to find out more...

Got a call about steam content server going live (even tho my games still wont download from it) and asked if they were going to increase caps anytime soon for cable customers and he said not likely as they just increased homeplan (adsl) caps.

Apparently cable plans are already "huge", 6 people using internet 4 heavy youtubers, 2 watch shortland street on tvnzondemand every night, the 40G disappears quickly!

Yes, just got the phone call, it seems the "data plan increases" are not for cable customers...

I am very disappointed with TelstraClear. Just looking at new usage:

This is for DSL customers only though. In our household we are on cable, and pay $209.95 for 120GB.

Come one TelstraClear, you are really disappointing customers here.

I have to add to this that I'm very disappointed, DSL customers get updated plans/usage but we don't?  Plans should at least add 25% usage per year to keep up with domestic competitors and international standards (Unlimited Usage mostly overseas).

If usage plans aren't updated our flat (who generally spends 250-350 per month on internet alone), is looking at going elsewhere.

Wow, I was right when I thought that we would start seeing data cap increases coming to ISPs. Slingshot recently upped their caps quite substantially and I figured it would only be a matter of time before others followed.

A shame that Cable customers aren't having their caps increased - is there actually a reason for not doing so?

I can only hope that the people that are calling customers and saying that cable plan caps aren't increasing are wrong - it's either them, or the TelstraClear representative who posted here to say that they would be increasing. Of course, I'm not holding my breath, given TelstraClear's track record.
