I'm expecting it to do both, as it does with VTV. The remote controls a few things on the TV (using infra-red):
* Volume
* Input select (including up/down)
* On/Off (with Bluetooth at the same time)

Yes the Vodafone TV Remote Can still control theses functions on the TV, when also paired with your TV via InfraRed, as well as contolling Google TV or another box it is paired with by bluetooth, as this is a function of the Vodafone TV remote.

The payments for our three VTV units have just appeared in the account. Three separate deposits, obviously one for each unit, as opposed to a single deposit.

Since I have a Vodafone account, I plumped for credit against next bill ... seemed easiest. 😁

Just redeemed my reimbursement. A bit sad really - never got much use of the box, and this whole saga has left enough foul taste in my mouth that I'll never give Vodafone another cent. Disappointing outcome when Vodafone showed so much promise recently IMO, they just seem to have thrown that away in the last year or so.

Got my refund too!

@sansom Can we hand over the boxes to a Vodafone store at all or do we have to request a courier bag? If we find a use for the remote or power supply do we have to return these? Just thinking I could perhaps repurpose the remote for my parents Chromecast. Thanks!

Got my refund today to. I’m going to wait until nearer close down date before requesting courier bag, otherwise it’s another thing sitting around that I may lose :)

Would rather return box to Vodafone store, would seem more efficient then one box to a bag, but probably a messier way for Vodafone that way.

I got my refund today too.

I'd obviously much prefer it if the service could continue, but in the circumstances, I think the team at Vodafone has handled this very well. The communication has been excellent, and although it's impossible to please everyone in a situation like this, they've clearly put a lot of effort into closing the service down cleanly.

Received payment today.
Replacement is a Google TV Chromecast.  Single remote controls everything we need on that (old plasma!) TV.  Apps deliver most of the streaming live and on demand PLUS YAY! Disney Plus.

Our lives are not so sad that we ever need to record stuff.  The ability to wind back to the start of a show will be missed but we are not slashing our wrists.

All good here. Thank you Vodafone.

Absolutely agree - the level of communication and advanced notice has been great, with only a few minor issues in the execution so far. My only bugbear is the tiered refund which just smacks of hubris and has presumably cost them more to implement than full refunds would have; and the (unavoidable) inability to repurpose the box leading to some e-waste.

Does anybody know of a device that will transcode the dolby digital plus signal from audio on amazon prime and netflix to dolby digital as the vodafone tv does?

If anyone is considering the latest Google TV Chromecast as a potential replacement for the VTV I would not recommend it.

On the plus side it does have a nice remote.

On the minus side there is no Freeview app so you are stuck just the TVNZ and Three apps.  Its Youtube app has an extreme ad fetish, today serving up 11 adverts in a 12 minute long video.

The feedback from from Google is the problem is I am in NZ, which is not supported, so I should return it.
