[#10342] We could not determine which forum this topic is in.

Anyway had a small outage this morning but just restarted the router.

International sites were crawling a couple of nights back but was all good last night and this morning. :-)

Usually have no issues with Vodafone.

/waits for Naked broadband plan upgrades.

Well Vodafone still hasn't given Naked BB users anything even after stringing them on for 2 months which means the horse is still alive.

I'm switching today to Snap and my friends will do the same next week. I have asked them to hold off and wait for a month and half and they were not too impressed now for that. I don't blame them.

I've been with VF for about 3 years now; I have set up direct debit for payment; I did pay $30 for extra data occasionally in the past. I don't use the landline too much though. I need lots of data.

I have spoken to VF twice and was unable to get the same offer mentioned by some here. I'm switching my and my partner's mobile phone service from VF too. And when the company's mobile phone contracts with VF expire we will switch too.

Last post and goodbye VF. Hope I will come back to the future fibre broadband once available with VF, provided the package is good enough.

i had tried to get my vodafone disconnected on the 2nd but systems were down and she said she'd ring back later that night which she didn't. July 10th i still hadn't heard anything so contacted again by email and left messages. i was all set to leave on the 11th (for definite) and started filling out the slingshot sign up form (because i chose unlimited and uncontracted to move on to and if it was no good could move on to snap) but the form wasn't working so left messages for them (slingshot). then vodafone called me on the 12th and asked what was my reason for wanting to leave (not big enough data packages) she offered me double your data at half price for the next 12 months. obviously that is still not a good deal for a high data user -just cos it doesn't compare to slingshot or snap which i told her (i wasn't keen on it at all) it would still cost about $80 (when snap & slingshot $85/$90 for the deals i was looking at going to with much higher packages) then i said "i know others have been offered free double your data" and she was like oh, oh, and she then offered me that with a new 12 month contract which i accepted. it really 'had' to come down to price for me although i would not have stayed if my data hadn't increased. if i need more data i can maybe look at signing up to one of those hot spot things (like iac) as i am so close to town i'm sure there is something, but will try to stick to 120. if i cancel my contract before 12 months i will have a $299 fee (almost the full cost of the extra data) which is around $360. which wouldn't be good if i ended my contract early as i may end up paying more than what i have used :s

i would also be really interested to know how many naked users left and how many got deals/extra data to stay!.

OK so lets agree that I am rude. I've spent a fair amount of my time today suggesting you check out a provider properly, which you could have done on your own by reading their forum, so you aren't disappointed. Guess that makes me rude.

You have a crack at Vodafone saying they have a notice period "just to grab more money" but that clearly isn't rude.

actually it was a valid question!. i am not a computer geek in any way shape or form. i dont know the industry and was asking someone who does as i feel this is the best way to get an answer i can easily understand . i am not much of a reader and it gives me a headache quite honestly. if you don't want to answer my questions don't. (in return i answer other ppl's questions of things i do know the answer to) give and take, i thought this was a fair trade!?

There is a technical reason - it's the contract you agreed to. If you don't bother to do your homework then it's no one elses problem but your own. A number of ISPs have the same T&Cs.

If you did your homework, then you'd pretty quickly realise that there's many reasons as to why "someone using slingshot in my area has better speeds than me (on voda)."

You agreed to the T&Cs and nobody pressured you into it, hence you are legally bound by it.

Go take a look at the other boards on here to see what impact traffic shaping has.

i did do my homework -i asked somebody!.
but you totally missed my point, what has being bound by terms and conditions got to do with anything.
i guess maybe when i ask my brother a question like that and he gives me a straight informative non sarcastic answer that i took that for granted. pity i don't have him around to ask anymore!.

Actually from experience (Changing to slingshot a couple of months ago) Vodafone's policy is that you pay till the end of the billing period your disconnection date is within and it does not appear to have a minimum notice period.

I gave approx 10 days notice and canceled on the last day of my billing period.

i rang and asked and she agreed when i asked if there was a 30 day notice period.

VF charged me full price for Max even though I was meant to have it for $95 so to say sorry I have also got free national calling for the year, so to keep me I got: Free Modem/Router, free double data(year), free national calling(year) and $10 discount on plan(year). I am happy with this bundle.

I aim to misbehave.

My switch to Snap took exactly five working days and was so smooth and straightforward.

The speed at peak time of the day is as good and even slightly better than VF so far.

I'm on the $115 for 255gb data plus landline; you also get uncapped data between 1am and 7am for three consecutive days for just $5 extra and you could have that add-on as many times a month as possible

I wish I had switched one month and half ago. Many of my friends wanting more data each month switched to Snap as well.

I am still with vodafone on naked
Reasons: they let me use my dads on account mobile for the $30 discount, and I can count another $15 off while I still have sky. (I would like to quit sky after the Olympics, but that's another forum topic)
Note though, that unlike most posters, I don't use above 60GB per month.
