Yes its now way out of touch of the market.  I was lucky and moved my monthly cost to less than $100 for the 150gig after calling them...  Thank you !   But I would rather spend twice that on larger caps !  Just no option at all to give them more of my money.

Vodafone must of chosen to take it slowly with taking on Telstraclear.  Im sure they have plans for some changes. But to see the jump to 130mbit down is 100% marketing and sad to see them act on that, before helping everyone out and doing it all at once with some good plans like Vodafone has with 400gig atm.  Gigs as bonus surely must be easier than 30mbit increase.

Welcome to Cable Vodafone.  We already know it has a kickass network but please spend time on total gigs and the international paths please.  Most routers cant even handle 100Mbit LAN anyway...

I'm lucky enough if i can peak 100mbps on sites and that is using a download accelerator although i can peak my connection on steam for single download. But now 130? gee my hardware can't get that high, yes i have the bog standard cisco gigabit modem do i need a gigabit port too? Vodafone doesn't make this clear, what about if want to add a router to the mix do i have to go and spend 3-400 for a gigabit including the kitchen sink just to keep up?

A gigabit router is not going to cost you anything like $300

$99 + GST

Chorus are already talking about pushing UFB up to 200mbit.

These products really are suited to folk who have lots of devices doing stuff.

They're also targeted at letting you do stuff fast, especially an online back up.

We're moving into a world where you get home, your phone sees the internet over wifi and uploads 10 GB of video you shot while you were out.

What annoys me is that they're not proactively applying the new rates to existing customers.

I'm quite happy with 60GB a month - but I'm still paying $20 more a month than a new customer.  Surely it'd be smart marketing to not only squawk about higher speeds, but to give a better deal to customers......after all, TCL rorted us for long enough.

If you give them a call and agree to a 12 month term I am guessing you can get the new pricing too. That is how I went from 100gig to 150 but save $20/month.

I've had enough. After many years of loyal service to TCL and for a shorter time Vodafone. I just cant live with the low data cap any longer.

Have signed up for snap VDSL with a 1TB cap (yes you read that right) for $155 per month. The number of times that I actually use more then 30-40Mbps I could count on one hand so I don't think I will miss the speed that much. I know for sure that I wont miss worrying about how much I am going over my cap each month and how much its going to cost me.

Vodafone, if you are listening, no one cares about an extra 30Mbps when they can hardly ever max out the 100 they already have. its just marketing BS IMO.

If you can offer 400GB on ADSL why the hell cant you do it on Cable?

To late for this customer.

Can't blame you for wanting to leave.

I have ADSL2+ with 500GB and that is probably a fair chunk more than I need (although all these steam sales and humble bundles beg to differ). I would switch to Vodafone cable if there was a decent 250gb+ plan and half decent overage charges. is it $2.95/2GB atm? that's outrageous!

The answer is fairly obvious after the free data weekend (remember that?!)

They clearly just don't have switching capacity in the network to move lots of data at once without it impacting performance.

The thing about ADSL is that you can only throw 20mbit of draw per customer at peek times.

With HFC you can put 7 times that per customer and they clearly just don't have the capacity in the network to do that.

Low data caps cause people who want large volumes of data to just choose the Chorus network, as you rightly point out. - being that this is exactly what you're doing.

We really have to remember that being a service provider, in most cases, is NOT about delivering as much data as possible.  It's about using technology to extract as much money from you as possible while also maintaining the lowest possible costs.

Most people in the data market are not there for altruistic reasons, they're there to pay with toys and make money for themselves and others.

Tend to agree with Don. They had some Wellington HFC customers on a unlimited trial last year (no I wasn't one so not breaking any NDA's), and then the unlimited weekend, and I think it's safe to assume they didn't like how much traffic people moved. As to the motivations for the low data caps, I can't think of any realistic reason other than plain old greed.. err I mean "maximising shareholder value".

Sadly my cabinet is an island of ADSL2+ only in a giant sea of VDSL, so I will be waiting for UFB, scheduled for early next year.

Exactly. Just bring it in line with UFB and VDSL plans that are out there. Or even your own ADSL plans.

Vodafone has increased the price on the 150GB plan (extra $10 on existing price), and added a 250GB plan (extra $20 on existing 150GB plan price) to the lineup now:

I'm going to check it out. Asking them to call me back. be interesting to see if I get the on account discount since I have a business plan through my work, guessing this won't count but worth a shot.

Also appears those are for 50mbps speed plans, and if you want 130mbps it goes up to $125, $139, and $149 respectively

Bad form Vodafone, very very bad form.
