You can not do that either Mikal, a Vodafone Prepay Number ported to Telecom (PP or OA) can only be ported back to Vodafone Prepay. But this is now getting off topic.

Looks like BestMate for OA includes PXT

BestMates are great. And with BestMates on You Choose you can talk, TXT, PXT and video call up to 3 numbers on the Vodafone network, from within NZ, as much as you like, 24/7

Today I went to transfer to the new "Mega" plan from my base plan (22 months of 24 remaining) and was told no, early termination charges. In the base plan terms and conditions it states:

"You can transfer from a You Choose Base plan to another Vodafone on account plan for no charge at any time, as long as you carry over your remaining contract term"

This means I can get another Vodafone plan like Mega, Choose 60 and just retain the existing plan term (or simply extend the extra 2 months) or does it not? Anyone would think so by reading that.

Also from what I was told, you cannot select any more addons as they are "pre packaged" though I think that might be incorrect.

After all that I think i'll stay with Base-20 for now, at $18 a month, 40 SMS, 60 off peak mins and 20 anytime mins.
Enough to be cheap and handy if I need to use some of it.

Bestmate is nice but I really don't actually see myself using it. I had it on prepay and seldom used it. More a of a tool for special jobs ans stuff where I would just change it over from number to number for cheap calls ($3 a time) but as you cannot manage it using txt since the new system upgrade, it would not easy enough to bother with.

They were available today by the way hence the above post. Full details were in the stores but I was horribly unsuccessful in my attempt to change and was so put off I'm statying on base 20 (and I think for the better anyway, I should really spend my dough on better things.)

Question

How do I buy/cancel/change BestMates on You Choose?

Answer

You can buy/cancel/change your BestMates using My Vodafone.  It will take 2 workings days for your request to be actioned.
You can also buy/cancel/change your BestMates by TXT. You can only TXT one command at a time and one BestMate number at a time.

To Buy BestMates TXT 'BUY BESTMATE' & your BestMate's number to 756. e.g
BUY BESTMATE1 <021123456789> to 756
BUY BESTMATE2 <021123456789> to 756
BUY BESTMATE3 <021123456789> to 756

To Cancel/Remove BestMates:
To remove a BestMate just TXT 'REMOVE BESTMATE' & your BestMate's number to 756. e.g
REMOVE BESTMATE <021123456789> to 756

To change BestMates:
To change TXT 'CHG BESTMATE' & yr current BestMate's number & new BestMate's no to 756. e.g
CHG BESTMATE <021123456789> to 756

Yes but is it instant? From what I could see it was a manual process.

The youchoose addons can no longer be managed by text as detailed in the "Pernanent changes" after the system upgrade.

I made a txt request for BestMate this afternoon, Vodafone replied back saying the application is being processed and I'll be ready to go on BestMate within two working days, and they'd txt me to let me know when it's all go.. So it seems txt requests are still okay..?

in situations like changing something to my account i'll always prefer to talk to someone over the phone or in person.  Make sure I get there name that way if anything screws up, there is some sort of responsibility on the CSR's part not just down to ... oh "computer glitch"

But for Prepay it's (near) instant when you send in your TXT request. As paradoxsm pointed out as part of the billing upgrade You Choose addons cannot be automatically added or removed using the TXT service.

No it wasn't instant, i got the same text back saying it would be applied in 2 working days.

About an hour later i got a txt asking me to call a number regarding bestmate, i called it and they confirmed that i wanted 2 bestmates. An hour later it was all active and i was using BestMate OA at about 5pm last night on the 2 september.
