There are further details of the plans in the "Offer summaries" section on this page: https://www.vodafone.co.nz/broadband/internet-plans/

Only had a quick look at the Smart Connect plan details, but it looks like there are typos in the on account discount in a couple of cases - records a $20p/m discount rather than $10p/m.

3puttssuck:

@mikehales If I'm only 6 month into a 12 month contract can I change to one of these new plans?

According to the CSR I just spoke to, I have to wait until my contract ends to change plans !!! ???

Perhaps they are deciding to be more generous and have increased the discount to $20?

I don't understand why people would want to use wifi extenders when there are great powerline adapters like these available for a similar retail price. Vodafone must have quite a deal on them.

https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NETTPL7511/TP-Link-PowerLine-TL-WPA7510-KIT-AV1000-Gigabit-Po

Also seems pretty weird that a whole new range of plans would launch without VDSL, sounds like there might be a story behind that. Anyway, decent competitive offer against Skinny. Not sure how the chat works, that link doesn't work for me at the moment, and the address checker seems to be down. Will check it out in a week.

@dylanp Sorry but what?

As posted on the last page:

PhantomNVD:[snip] VF is 40Gb for $50... and Skinny have 40Gb for $40 or 100Gb for only $12 more... $2 more than VF’s 40Gb buys 100Gb... an extra 150% 🤷‍♂️

MikeHales:

VDSL will be available next month

Thanks for clarifying Mike, and on the speeds later in the thread.

Anything you can share on the delay of VDSL? And/or why the walk away from Wireless >40GB? Seeing network capacity concerns?

Take care,

I also would be really interested in the commercial drivers behind this. As we all know Spark have been pushing wireless really hard for users up to 120GB who can't access fibre. Supposedly their reasoning is that they don't want to pay line charges to Chorus or administer customer queries relating to copper line faults.

Have Vodafone discovered that this economic rationale just doesn't stack up? Is that possibly because they have less radio spectrum available than Spark, and hence they are struggling to manage the congestion?

I am assuming that my 120Gb wireless plan will continue on as a grandfathered plan, otherwise I will have to look at switching.

I noticed this

Does this mean they will give Fibre to FibreX customers if they just ask?

Also, Will cable customers phone now be VoIP if they sign up to these new plans? (Currently POTS)

I wonder why there are no bundle options for people who already have cable pots and tv? Surely that's the majority of the market today, and the new tv stuff has'nt launched yet.

I also read phone features are now at $5/mth each? you gotta be kidding, that outrageous for technology thats 25 years old and costs nothing to deliver.

 @MikeHales

I've been a Vodafone customer for over 2 years so am not currently under a term contract. Are these new plans only available on a contract term or can I switch from my current plan without having to sign for a further 12/24 month contract?

I also add my question about the Online Chat Support for the Smart Connect plan? Is this actual online chat or post via the Vodafone Community? What support is offered should connection stop working and customer doesn't have access to device with mobile data.

Thanks

Contract - Yes, you would need to sign to a new contract to switch plans.

Chat - Live chat between 9am - 9pm, outside those hours post to VF Community. If no connection then call.

Is this chat service also available to those not on the chat only plan?

how does one open the chat interface? Links on the Help section simply push to the VF Community.
