I was watching Fashion Police on E! (a guilty pleasure) when my girls wanted to use the Wii so I recorded the programme that had just started. Sat down today to watch it and instead it had the fishing show on TV3

well I think your T-box simply has issues with certain matieral and maybe is trying to make better selections, purhaps this Tbox firmware is more clever than we think! Or maybe the firmware devleopment team is all male!

lanceanz: I wouldn't describe any of the suggestions as "fixes"...
Riposte: I have had a T-box for some time after previously having a series one Tivo I brought in from the US several years ago.We have now had our T-Box for a month and I agree 100% with your comments. I understand that it was introduced over a year ago and these problems should have been rectified. I live in hope that the software will be improved. I guess the two year contact is there for a purpose.? So far we have only had to reboot once during the month we have had it, but I am not sure that that is something to be pleased about.
Does anyone else feel like they are paying through the nose to be part of some sort of Telstra Beta testing project ?
There is no way the T-box is ready for primetime.
The interface is clunky and unresponsive, the hardware sometimes gets too hot to touch underneath (yes it has plenty of space) and the whole user interaction is poor - you cant search for anything, sort anything, you have to reboot it once a week. Altogether a bit of a disappointment
lanceanz: Youbetcha. I recommend you submit your concerns to TC via the online Compaints form. I did so in April (at the recommendation of a Customer Support person) and had a couple of long discussions with someone who understood what I was talking about, and forthright in what was coming up. I'm reasonably confident that he will have filed a bug report with the software developers about the reproducible "freezing" issue I encountered. He was well aware of the sluggishness, so I'm sure eventually there'll be some improvements.Could you share with us what is coming up, it may make things less frustrating.?
The more people submit formal complaints using a letter or the online form, the more likely it is that TC will submit issues to the developers and (given your heating issue) the manufacturers - and maybe compensate us for a service that isn't of acceptable quality.
Could you share with us what is coming up, it may make things less frustrating.?

Perhaps not less frustrating ;-) But here's what I noted during my conversations.
Most notable feature coming "later this year" is the ability to do manual recording.
There will likely be a "MySky-like" feature that automatically extends a recording if the programme runs over time. This is mainly for sports.
Ongoing patching to resolve issues.
They are aware of the sluggishness including sluggish response to the remote, and have raised that with the developers.
They are working with Sky on improving EPG accuracy. They thought my request for more than 6 days of EPG was a good idea, but later said they had no control of that. It's all they are given.
I was told that my T-Box should not be freezing as it was "not something others are reporting". So if anyone's T-Box is freezing (i.e. only way to revive it is to cycle the power) then please tell TelstraClear.
