I'm watching something on HGTV called big Beach builds the visual quality absolutely awful.

Every panned shot goes into jump juddering. It looks like very nasty 30 to 25 fps conversion of some type and i've noticed this on shows on choice tv as well. What the heck are theses channel doing?

I saw that when I looked once at choice tv. Makes it unwatchable. I complained once to them when they first started and they were just dismissive of it so never tried again.

Some info I found which some may find to be helpful for some users to combine TV and VTV.  Also to control the Volume.

To Pair your VodafoneTV Remote with your TV

  1. Turn on your TV that you wish to pair with
  2. Press and hold the Yellow and OK buttons on your remote until the Power button blinks green twice
  3. Point the remote towards your TV
  4. Press and hold the Power button on your remote until your TV turns off (this may take up to 30 seconds), then release the Power button
  5. The LED will indicate its progress by a long green blinking
  6. Press the Power button to turn your TV back on

To Reset your remote control

  1. Press and hold the Blue and Menu buttons until the Power button blinks green twice
  2. Press 9 four times, the Power button will blink green each time you press 9

After the fourth time, the Power button will blink Red four times and your remote will be back to it's original state

Excellent! Thank you for this post. This works great with my Sony Bravia TV with Sony Home Theatre on TV HDMI Port 1 with and Vodafone Gen2 TV on TV HDMI Port 2, allowing me to control the volume at the TV of the overall system with a single Vodafone TV remote while running the Audio of the Vodafone Set Top Cloud PVR on the Dolby setting. It also means I now have a use for the screen button on the remote. It controls the selection of the HDMI port on the TV for other devices. The mute button on the Vodafone TV remote now also mutes the whole system from the TV, and the power button now turns everything on and off with HDMI-CEC. Note I am on update 57.11 in case you don't have the same experience on 57.10 (the current general release).

I’m having all sorts of problems getting this to work.

When starting step 2, should the VTV be on or off?

Our VTV is behind our TV and we are relying on VTV remote’s BT functionality to operate the VTV. Do the above steps work if we’re wanting the TV to respond to the VTV remote’s IR and the VTV to respond to its BT? Or is this some sort of CEC arrangement?

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

From memory, the VTV box should be off when you start step 2.  (as the TV will be off at the end of the step 4 and you will then want to turn both on at the same time otherwise they will be out of step with each other)

It doesn't currently use CEC, although support for this is coming.  I understand that it switches the remote to IR mode for controlling both TV & VTV box as it was a feature on the original non-bluetooth VTV remote, so this may be why it's not working for you.  @olof may be able to confirm?

Hamish in my case I started out with the VTV Remote paired. This means VTV is still controlled by Bluetooth, and the TV is controlled by IR after the process completes. This can be confirmed by covering the front of the remote and finding that TV controls no longer work, but Bluetooth ones to the VTV still do. The CEC in my case only relates to a Sanyo Bravia TV controlling the Sanyo Home Theatre I believe. So yes the VTV can still be behind the TV. The TV should be on before starting Step 2 of the first section, and I believe the VTV needs to be on. You can get the TV and VTV power on/off back into synchronisation if they ever get out of synch by covering the front of the remote and pressing the power button to turn on just the VTV, after turning on the TV by other means.

Yep, it’s like that from source. Both channels are from the same company.

Wow they should be ashamed , i expect their content is sent from the u.s on hard drives in file format which has been  "kindly "pre converted or not converted to the wrong format.

I don't know how their viewers put up with it

This does not work on Gen 2 if using BT for VTV and IR for TV.

This definitely worked for me on Gen2 using BT for VTV, and IR for TV where my TV is a Sony Bravia KDL-60EX720 with HDMI-CEC on (i.e. Control for HDMI: on, Auto Devices Off: On, Auto TV On: On , Device Control Keys: Tuning and Menu Keys)but note that I am on pre release 57.11 so it may not work for you, or if you are on 57.11 and it does not work it may not work with your television. Does either of these apply in your case i.e. are you on UI Version 51.5711.3 or the current general release version 51.5710. What make and model of TV are you using?

After massive trial and error, I finally got the TV/VTV on/off sync to work - starting step 2 with VTV ‘on’. This shows that combined BT and IR does work.

However, if relying on BT for VTV, this is a flakey and not useful solution IRL - because if someone uses the TV remote power button to turn the TV off, the TV goes off but VTV doesn’t - and the sync is lost. Same if the TV remote is used to turn the TV on - TV comes on but VTV doesn’t. After this has happened, subsequent use of the VTV power button turns one unit on and the other unit off - the sync is exactly back-to-front.

This is a total waste of time for us and it’s far easier to not have the ‘sync’ set up and to use two remotes to turn TV and VTV on.

With version 57.11 of the firmware of VTV and HDMI CEC fully on, on a Sony Bravia KDL-60EX720 TV, I have found getting it back into synch is easy just by aiming the remote correctly at the TV, turning it off and then turning it back on again until back in synch. You may find it works better in the future for you if you already have HDMI CEC turned on with future releases of firmware. In the meantime you can get them back into synch by covering the front of the remote with your hand and using the power button to just control the VTV.
