You're right! They Vodafone increased their 150GB (130/10 Mbps) plan by NZ$ 43 (44%):

That's it really bad... At this price I'd expect unlimited Internet about now.

Asked what happens to existing customers, this is the answer:

But.. I don't have a term contract, only an open plan...

Did they ninja hire Theresa Gattung and start thinking all their customers are dumb marks to be fleeced for as much money as possible or something?

I always suspected Vodafone was going to screw up everything good TelstraClear ever did but this is above and beyond. Actually gobsmacked.

Hmmm i was going to cancel the T-box and get MY-sky back due to the T-Box being the worst consumer product ever made. I bet they wont let me do that anymore....

That's what happens when you've got monopoly and a competitor who is both over budget and has stated that they won't move into your market.

Naked and with phoneline prices are now identical according to the VF website, but those prices exclude TV

Sky + T-Box is +$45
Freeview + T-Box is free on contract for 250GB $14.95 pm on 80/150 plans

So its now $139 for your 150gb plan, +PLUS either $14.95 (freeview) or $45 (Sky), for a new total of $153.95 for Freeview or $184 with Sky.

Unbelievable - we only asked for more competitive data allowances - and they reply by increasing prices for existing data caps!

If you have a T-Box have you factored in the price of all the sky channels?

I must admit - I have up trying to read the Vodafone website - I found it confusing and I am a s/w developer. How the average consumer will find it I don't know.

The main thing was that it clearly says as you navigate that 150Gb of data is $99 dollars and no-where on that page did it say what speed you get. It does give an indication of three speeds, but one could read that that all three speeds are $99. I didn't realise that the small checkbox on the page changes the pricing when clicked and it still doesn't indicate what speed that is the price for.

It wasn't until I saw the post on Geekzone that I found out that different speeds have different prices for the same data.

I still have not been able to find the pricing deals for the sky channels so I can work out what the best total package would be and compare it with what I have.

I can only assume that it's been done to deliberately confuse people, makes sense if your going to raise prices and shaft customers you'd make it as obfuscated as possible.

As for TV pricing, if you scroll down to section 3 and hit the "More about Vodafone TV" link it opens up a page outlining what I mentioned above.

Interesting to note that Vodafone owns cable, an asset laid down in the late 90s. It's not like they have to pay Chorus to use it, like in UFB.

It does say under the check box that it is for upgrading from 50 to 130 (100 on UFB) but it managed to catch out KN on the Vodafone Twitter account...

Perhaps they've set a standard price, allows them to offer the service across the country using other folks networks where there are set prices

Looks like they have removed the lower tiers of naked cable as well... At this point I am glad I am leaving the country at the end of the month.

Of course I would be happy to continue as the Geekzone Northern Ireland correspondent.
