It seems completely logical to me that you can hang one of these APs off a switch.
But can you reverse them, and hang a switch off the second ethernet port if the AP is connected via cable to the first ethernet port?
Or even if it is connected via wireless backhaul?

yep, you can hang a switch of the second port and have the first port connected to your router or ONT. The unit will treat one as a WAN port, and one as LAN.
If the second X20 unit has an ethernet connection path back to the first unit, it will self select Ethernet for backhaul ( I have it like this).
If the second unit does not see the first unit over ethernet, it will mesh wirelessly.
So i'm an existing VF customer but I am not eligible for this without resigning to another term... this would mean breaking my current term which would cost me $$
According to CS I will need to wait the 20 months before I can be eligible... what about existing loyal customers? @JasonParis
I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.

I haven't checked yet, but recently resigned for another 2 years.
I'll be super pssd if I find I've missed the cut by a matter of weeks etc.
Prepare to be disappointed! (also my pickup line)
I was told, only if i signed after the 18th Jan hahaha good one!

If I relied on WiFi at home and had insufficient good coverage then I would prioritise improving WiFi connections over getting a low price for broadband. That's why I took up the offer.
But if my WiFi were fine then I would probably stick with the lower broadband price and buy mesh WiFi gear some time in the future when it is on sale.
Lewk: Ordered mine yesterday. For those that already have them, how configurable is it as a router? Is it able to do static routes? What if you have a home phone line (ours is just for the house alarm system) do you have to keep the existing router for that?
Just the basics for routing - LAP IP, DHCP, Router or AP mode, port forwarding, DDNS. No Static routing
If you have a VOIP phone line you'll need to keep your router for that.
You can run the Deco in AP mode and let the router to all the work, but it will loose its inbuilt parental controls and QoS (it just becomes a mesh AP). If you leave it in router mode behind your gateway router, it will run the 192.168.68.1 subnet - so double nat out to the internet (not seen any performance issues on 1gbit fibre due to that though)
Signed on for 12 months to get the X20s.
Upgraded to FibreMax at the same time.
Tobi rep assured me that my home phones would continue working even though a previous rep was quite adamant that they wouldn't.
Hopefully no regerts 😬
PS keeping router (obvs) and I dont need the parental controls, my parents can do what they like on my interwebs.

eligibility is only on 12 month plans, which seems nuts if a customer has committed to 2 years with you?

Yes, nuts. Considering you have to stay on the plan for 24 months to keep the APs for free.
