Well done to Vodafone for making it possible to reuse the QR code when you change devices. Not sure if 2D does this already but Spark does not, and it can be a nuisance when you upgrade your device.

Where did you see that you can reuse the QR code? do they print it out in store or email to you?

Cheers Sam

Thanks Sam

The QR code is emailed to you when your connection is swapped over to eSIM (but Retail staff can also bring it up on-screen if you need it while in store). You do have to remove the eSIM from the active device first and wait a few minutes before it will work again on a new device.

Thank you that’s a great result to be able to have the QR on file so if you lose your phone overseas you can get back up and running

Thanks Sam

This probably won't work because if you lose your phone it is unlikely that anyone will delete the eSIM profile off it, so therefore you can't use same QR code on another phone. So you'd have to get a SIM swap done to a new eSIM and then get the new QR code sent to you. This is certainly possible but requires robust process to identify that you are indeed who you say you are as you can't visit a store.

But this ability to delete the eSIM profile off one phone and then download it onto another one using the same QR code is interesting. When I worked on eSIM at another telco we were discouraged from taking this approach and we were advised that it is not a normal industry practice. Clearly Vodafone have done further work around this to have confidence in it so kudos to them as it is certainly useful for users.

Does Vodafone support Apple's built in ability to transfer an eSIM from an old device to a new device during setup?

Vodafone doesn't support eSIM at all, so that will be a no.

Ahhhh...please read the last two pages of this thread - Vodafone launched eSIM yesterday!

Is it available for corporate accounts?

From https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT209096 the answer looks to be no.

Yeah but that page hasn't been updated yet. It doesn't list Vodafone has having eSIM support yet...which is understandable since it was only added officially yesterday.

Unfortunately we do not support quick transfer at this time, this may be coming at a later date.

It depends on the company. An end user would need to have authority to complete a SIM swap in store, or alternatively a complex support model where we have agreed (business to business) processes to handle remote SIM swaps. The last requirement would be that there are no special SIM-level features that customer needs.

If a corporate customer meets that criteria then yes, they can move individual connections over to eSIM.

Got my eSim conversion done today, tried Queensgate in the weekend but was sent away as none of the staff had training. Was in Paraparaumu today for work so tried the store there, poor lady serving had to sit on the phone with their helpdesk for over 40 mins trying to process the change (think all they got was a 1-2 page PDF)
