Steve113: Sorry to join this conversation late.
Does Sky offer any equivalent to VTV Freeview service? Or do I have to purchase one of their Sky TV packages.

I'm only interested in the Freeview aspect with playback capability.

From what I gather the closest you can get is Sky Pod for $100 one off fee and then a Sky Starter subscription for $25.99 per month which you must first add to Vodafone TV and then Sky will offer you a Sky Pod or Sky Box with the Sky Pod being the closes to Vodafone TV at $25.99 per month less 10% for the first 12 months as per https://www.sky.co.nz/vtv-sky-offer-10. The options are described here https://www.sky.co.nz/products.

Will Sky offer an equivalent to VTV Freeview standalone service?
I know they have the Sky Pod on their website which mentions on-demand playback - question will this be offered as a standalone solution or do you have to purchase one of their Sky TV packages.

I'm only interested in the Freeview aspect with playback capability.

If you're looking for Freeview Live via streaming, I know DishTV SmartVu V11 has Freeview Live.

Thanks. I wonder if you get the Sky Pod offer, do you need an active a sky subscription to be able to continue using it. Will it work outright on it's own without sky subscription?

Yes you will have to continue with an active Sky Subscription to view or replay the channels. If you stop paying I would assume you would have to return the Sky Pod as it still belongs to them.

Eva888: Not on my Three news again either.

@sansom Any chance that you could get someone to look at why ‘restart’ is missing from Three and get a fix? VTV was offered to be viable until end of Sept - which was then extended to the end of Oct.

Thanks.

Above was back in early Sept. The 'restart' option on Three disappeared yet again a few days ago. Very annoying - we use restart on Three every day (when it's working) and it is the main feature of VTV for us. VTV has at least two more months to run. Are we going to be without the restart over that period?

And to further confirm the end is nigh the 'Phone & Tablets' app on the menu screen is now gone so you cant pair a new phone therefore not log into the Vodafone TV app. Me thinks we are off to Google TV and freeview> you will be surprised what's on Youtube - even new stuff.

And it’s back after a week’s absence - thank you whoever.

This made my day (need that with all the bad stuff happening out East).

That is the funniest good thing I've heard for ages!
Why go to www.vodafone.co.nz/tv when Sky (presumably) keep paying to keep the current system going?

As a VTV owner, how are you supposed to register for NewSkyBox?

I have done the "register your interest" but don't know what to put for Sky Account Number, I don't see that anywhere in the VTV self service portal. I tried putting the VTV serial number in and it accepted it but I haven't received any email.

Seems like a fairly short timeline if 31 March is the "final" cutoff this time and they're not even shipping devices yet?

I got an email on December 2nd last year from "Sky TV <service@skycomms.sky.co.nz>" titled "order your new Sky TV now". It had a "Pre-order now" button. When I signed up via that (on a non-public web page) I got an email with an account number in it, freshly assigned. I haven't heard anything from them since. I think Vodafone integrated customers got the invites first and now fulfilment too, so I guess it's coming soon. I would try to find that email if you got it (check spam filter) and sign up through the button in there, or otherwise call them immediately.

if you can compare TVT and Sky pod how different/similar UI is, it will be great, may be some screenshots? I'm thinking about sky pod myself, but I do have Apple TV with NZTV and ThreeNow apps but prefer TVT UI. Thanks a lot.

Sky account number should have been left blank as you don't have one.
