Glad you got it going.
It has some limitations and also some big advantages. When record is available it records from beginning as well.
@mikeplaysnz have you applied the current update after unboxing it?

Any news on when Gen 1 will get the latest update?
And also whether Gen 1 will ever work like Gen 2 when you are no longer on a plan? (I think this was mentioned right at the start of this thread that at some stage they may use the same system with the only difference being no wifi).
MikePlaysNZ: Have purchased a Vodafone tv from mighty ape but have come across a series of issues.
Box does not always come out of stand by so have to unplug for 15 seconds and plug in again - have had to do this a number of times.
Volume and channel changing sensitivity is sometimes too weak other times too sensitive - will skip channels or volume will go up too far or down too low or sometimes not at all
Going into the settings menu when scrolling to access different settings it skips every second option and moves on to the next one so cannot access many of the settings options
Do I need to return box or will this be fixed through an update?
Sounds like a dodgy remote or maybe not paired properly.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
Since yesterday the Gen 2 box has been stubborn to come out of sleep mode when I turn on the TV. The status LED will flash on pressing the remote buy it will not come on I need to power cycle to get it to work. The box has also started to pause and black screen again, not as much as previously. I am running the latest firmware version.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

It was mentioned that we Vodafone TV gen 2 boxes and Vodafone TV On Account gen 1 boxes are essentially the same and would get the same software:

... running the same firmware release.
Like we get the same DVR hours https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=40&topicid=254293&page_no=3#2292781
What do you mean by "no longer on a plan"? If my Vodafone TV On Account plan ended, so I wouldn't be on a plan, then I would have to return the box to Vodafone.
54 pages and counting... now that’s a popular product
so is multiple devices on the one account supported now?

Geekzone has a search feature 😉 ... and I should have used it because that info was further back than I remember.
Next week, Monday 25 November, or maybe later.

As @olof noted in that post a few weeks back, the 25 November date may change. Based on current testing progress, I'm sorry to say we're now very unlikely to have it available 25 November... Introducing Multiroom has increased the potential complexity and we're being very careful to make it as simple as possible for different types of customer scenarios going through the new journeys that are introduced including:
- A new customer with multiple boxes activating onto multiroom directly vs existing customer adding one extra box.
- Freeview multiroom vs Sky multiroom and the cost implications of migrating between Freeview and Sky
- Removing / swapping devices, full device management options encompassing mobile and tablet devices (with the mobile app coming in soon also)
This Friday we should have a much firmer view on timeline to the multiroom release.

While the standby/black screen has been resolved for most customers with the last firmware release, we are aware it still affects some customers (tv type and router type dependent). We are preparing the final fix for this issue which is in test and looking good. Date for roll out tbd.

Thats a bummer, am looking forward to having two boxes going.
I have two VTV boxes, one currently with SKY Sport. Presumably if I activate my second box under a different email address (to use with Freeview channels), this box can later be reset to factory settings and reactivated as a multiroom box when this function is up and running?

Yes, it might not be a slick self service option, but we will make sure we can arrange to re-merge your Sky + Freeview boxes onto your single account when we launch multiroom.

Thanks for confirming Hamish - I expected as much, and it's why I asked the question.
