For those with more technical ability, I've had success adding Freeview TV to my Plex server (running on a Raspberry Pi 4) following this helpful guide.
With Plex Pass I'm able to schedule automatic recording which has satisfied my partner's demands request.
After Vodafone last year extending the life of VodafoneTV for a time, I see one.nz/tv have anounced the final shutdown is happening over next two weeks. Is there any hope that my two units can be repurposed or are they determined to be e-waste?
I've not yet decided on an alternative streaming device. Likely will be a chromecast as I really only want it for netflix and I still use my trusty tivos for FTA recording.

These units cannot be used for anything else.

You may be able to get a partial refund through the One.NZ (the new Vodafone) and a return courier bag can be obtained at https://one.nz/tv/.

I understand that the Bluetooth remotes can be used with other devices?
Yes they can. For unstance with Google TV although the voice interface does not work.

This whole process reminds me of the opening scene of Peter Sellers in The Party 😁

Our guide is still complete and still works.
After a couple of weeks of our 'new' Sky Pod, we've almost given up watching their output - that is, channels like Soho, UK TV, etc. And probably watch more Amazon Prime, Neon, NZTV+ and ThreeNow.
We don't want 'old' technology like a satellite dish or even a terrestrial aerial on the roof of our new home.
So, planning to phone Sky and cancelling our subscription. Let's see how long it takes them to answer the phone, correctly accept out request and then cancel their service... not holding my breath...

Good luck.
I queued for about 20 minutes to cancel recently.
The person I spoke to seemed to be in NZ, but was pretty incoherent, giving me a range of incorrect information (such as I can get Sky with the new box without a satellite dish). I was offered the new box in exchange for the Pod at the standard price, but politely declined. She didn't even seem to be able to see that I'd been a Sky user for many years - she thought I'd just signed up, and kept saying back to me that I was cancelling because I was unhappy with Vodafone TV, even though I kept telling her that the reason was because the Sky Pod is rubbish. I'm still waiting for the promised courier bag to arrive to return the Pod.
