Short update: We don't have a launch date yet.  We have completed of our end-to-end user testing and making the final tweaks based on the results.  We are also finalising the stores that will sell the product.  We are making sure this product is something to be proud of when we launch and I'll post to GZ as soon as I have something more to share.

Look forward to further news.

Please can you also post at the Vodafone TV & Sky TV Community forum at the same time.  Information like this appears, surprisingly, pretty much absent there.

Thanks.

I seem to be in line for the new box. I just got a replacement Vodafone box for my existing one that kept crashing. Wife finally had enough of rebooting during masterchef.

Anyway they sent me a second one  really quick then when I rang them a to pass over the serial number to provision it, changed their minds and signed me up to a new product.

I pay something like $95 pm with higher speeds and the phone, but have to pay $199 if I leave within 12 months.

I think this is the new box.

They didn't want the 2 Vodafone boxes, the one new and the other crashing, back And said just to hand them in at a vf store.

So then what are they giving me? It sure isn't the Vodafone boxes that we currently have.

Guess I'll report back on Tuesday when it turns up :-)

Is that offer out of the retention team?

Is this an old T-Box or old Vodafone TV box? I read this post from page 2 in this topic as suggesting that a firmware update would turn a Vodafone TV into one of the new ones except for some radio differences.
sansom: 2. Existing customers originally received the Gen 1 Vodafone TV box for no cost (a $179 saving), and Vodafone retains ownership of those boxes.   The Gen1 boxes are largely functionally the same as Gen 2, with the exception of the 4*4 Wi-Fi, and Gen1 will be receiving a major firmware update soon so that they will be running the same firmware release.  In saying that, we are looking at whether we can create a Gen1 to Gen2 swap process, however this is likely to come at a cost to the user.  The fault replacement approach is that any faulty Gen1 will be swapped with a new Gen1 (we have plenty for this).

3.3 the main difference is that it comes with 4*4 802.11ac built in and a Bluetooth/BLE remote.

My feeling is that when our T-Box eventually fails, I'll want a Vodafone TV streaming box at the same price we currently pay, and a few other things, otherwise it will be bye-bye Vodafone, it's been a good 15 years.

Hi Guys, yes, I can confirm you can now buy VTV standalone both from the Vodafone online store.  We're also now selling at the Sylvia Park Vodafone Retail and Sylvia Park Noel Leeming stores.

The $179 box comes with 3 months NEON and 4 months Lightbox subscription.  Sky channel and On Demand subscriptions can be added with credit card payment.

Sky add-ons are at the normal Sky retail pricing.

Might be a good idea to support a specific USB wifi stick? for the older Gen 1 units? as lack of wifi holds back the gen 1 units. Or an ethernet to wifi bridge

It's a shame it doesn't appear to support streaming music services. I would have liked to see Tidal available.

The station mode on this product is our recommended solution and boosts your Wi-Fi at the same time:
