Hopefully that's not the only Wainui node on the list? be interested to know if W40 features on the list at all?

Beaker: Can you tell me what Node Marlborough St, Phillipstown (Chch) is on? I'm beginning to think 'Connection Timeout' is my new homepage!

Also an ETA on when this node might be upgraded!

By the end of the month

Bah, I'm on W81 in Kapiti. Does that mean I'm ok if that doesn't appear on the list or just have to wait?

No improvement here tonight - another outage, same as before: lots of packet loss just pinging the DNS server. Apparently there's an outage on my node - WPK - affecting hundreds of modems. So that's at least three nights in a row with identical outages. The CSR said: "Maybe it will be back online by tomorrow"

I'm in Miramar.  We supposedly got our nodes upgraded today but I'm still having the same issues.  Currently getting 5Mb down on speedtest to vodafone wellington server.

Status report for tonight: "It's not bad."

Speed test result:

Mind you, this is while I'm downloading The Witcher 3 on Steam and going through 1080p60 (or higher!) videos on YouTube. I just realised that it's peak hour, and stuff is performing surprisingly well. The flatmates are using the connection too, and my latency is barely higher than what it is without any congestion.

As soon as the speed test finished, the Steam download resumed to 11+ MB/s.

We haven't even had a cutover yet, as far as I know. The future looks promising!

So, once the work is completed on each node, should users expect better performance instantly? Or is there a final day, where everything just gets "switched on" and the world becomes a better place?

AFAIK, the improvement should be immediate. Cable Internet has always had a reputation for being prone to congestion issues, and upgrading local nodes is the surefire way of combating that.

After the upgrade is complete in your area you should experience more consistent and reliable fast data speeds, so you can do more of what you love online.

I had an outage today for about an hour - I'm based in Stokes Valley. It doesn't look like it has improved anything.

The outage shouldn't take more than fifteen minutes, from the sounds of things; that outage may be unrelated.

A week ago, the people at my old flat informed me that the connection was down for five hours. And it wasn't Vodafone's fault. Apparently Chorus was digging around and temporarily nuked the cable in the process. >_>

I talked with someone from Lower Hutt today. They brought up their frustration about Vodafone's cable network without me saying a thing, and I shared this thread and all the news with them. Then it turns out that there was also some work being done in Lower Hutt that was edited in ~15 minutes before I showed him the updates! He was pretty stoked.

There's a lot of hype around Vodafone's cable again now. Hopefully these upgrades and continued developments will make it fully competitive with fibre! I wouldn't mind staying with Vodafone down the road if they can dish out a superiour service. The oh-so-common DPC3008 modem itself is technically capable of delivering >340/120 Mbps. I'd love to see us get closer to that. It'd certainly shame most of the fibre offerings. :D

Interesting experience with Speedtest just before from Kapiti. To Wellington VF server it was approx 75ms ping time and 30/2. To Auckland VF server it was approx 20ms ping time and close to 50/2 (my top speed). I wonder if the Wellington VF server is having a bit of a hammering?

Something in the back of my head (from when I worked there) tells me that the actual cables may not be capable of handling that much speed. I could be wrong/things could have changed however - I last worked there over 10 years ago smile

So has anybody who has been upgraded already seen much of a improvement? Be interesting to see how well it's working.
