I only skimmed read posts but from that what the arguement here is whether VF should hold you to a contract in light of the new plans launched. Legally they probably have every right to.
What I think those here that feel hard done by are wanting is some sort of goodwill from VF for their loyalty. Without looking at the impact financially to the company I am going to guess that if they allow those on existing contracts to move to the new plans without penalty then they would be losing money, it's the only explanation.

If this is the case then what they are doing is securing a limited income from these customers as I am sure a percentage will leave at the first opportunity and it appears that when TC get their GSM network operational many will move. I read that some are willing to sign up to another 12months on their contracts just to get to the new plans, this seems a reasonable compromise.

What I find interesting is that in the last 3 pages of this thread there seems to be a lack of attendance from the OP VF official voice. I would be interested to know whether this is deliberate as things have gotten a little hot here. Of all places this is where VF should make a stand, either make allowances (surely it would be in their best interest in the future) or stop this arguement right here by saying - it aint going to happen, get over it.

On a general note, both major mobile companies seem content to let churn happen as long as it appears to be even. I have no idea what the numbers are but I am going to guess that the flow both ways is even. If this is correct then surely VF should be doing a bit more to keep customers that are loyal to GSM not VF.

Very good post in general. THe lack of presence from both large operators in those forums is mainly because they are afraid of customers... Seriously.

I agree with your thoughts on why they are happy with churn. It just happens that they keep the status quo when things are even...

Actually, I've been in meetings... sorry, the day job does require the odd time away from Geekzone. Tongue out

I am feeding all this back to those further up the food chain though. I started the thread on early termination charges to gather just this kind of feedback so thanks to all who've taken the time to post (albeit here rather than there) and to email me directly.

Cheers

Paul

[OT]Whilst I agree with most of your post & you have raised some very valuable points, I personally think that Paul Brislen is doing a great job & his presence here is done in his own time, not as an official voice, but most certainly a very valuable one indeed.

With regards to having a semi-official voice from either telco, I haven't seen any evidence of this from Telecom, not even someone from a similar position as Paul, so in reality Vodafone is at least doing something to help improve the level of customer service, whereas the other camp aren't. Having said that, I am aware that there are some people who post here who are associated with Telecom & your input is also very much appreciated.

In short, thanks to Paul for the contributions you make to these forums, I for one appreciate that you are giving so much of your own time & passing on the appropriate information to those who need it.[/OT]

Note to Paul: Now please send me my new Nokia N95 to the address I supplied to you in my email. ==> Tongue out

Cool

I would but of course that would be a commercial email and I'd have to include an unsubscribe function and get your permission first. (it's in the post).

Cheers

and thanks

to get bestmate on account I will require to convert from get70 to you choose which means a minimum of a 12 month contract and spending a minimum of $40 ie double what I do now ?

Not quite. Yes you do have to change to a You Choose Plan, say You Choose 20 for $19.95, PLUS 3 Best Mates at $12 which makes it $31.95 total.

No, you can go onto a YC20 with BM = $26 a month. However, sounds if you are a low user: bite the dust and head over to prepay.

This thread appears completely worthless to people who are looking for information directly relating to getting/using/troubleshooting/pricing/cancelling BestMate with a Vodafone post paid connection.

How about keeping to the topic? Start new threads for new topics, and help make Geekzone a worthwhile resource. Its pointless to hijack a thread with your own agenda, because the people who were contributing at the start of the thread soon disappear.

So i'm on You Choose and I want to add 1 BM

What I find really annoying is that I log in to VF and my current OA info doesn't show what I currently have, of course I know what I should have, but I can't see it online anywhere - yet I used to be able to all in one place - and now i'm supposed to know what services I want to remove and it tells me "Please make sure you are only removing Add Ons which you currently have on your plan." -> Surely this could be smarter, I could've sworn this used to be alot more user friendly?

OT: I'm also finding that I can't find my current txt600 bundle balance online or via txt, I can only find it via phone???

These issues have already been discussed at length in other threads, in the Vodafone forum. They are known issues & from my understanding Vodafone is aware of them & is working on a solution so that these details can be displayed when you logged onto the Vodafone website. With regards to the text message balance, the same applies.

Please don't shout, it's considered rude & this issue has nothing whatsoever to do with Bestmate on Account, start another thread if you can't keep on topic please.
