Oh good lord the name change has nothing to do with politics, race or any other possible conspiracy, it's a name. It could mean ONE stop shop, number ONE telco in Aotearoa, ONE because they didn't like THREE and TWO was already taken. Maybe Jason Paris is an evil genius and knew deciding on ONE would sent the interwebs, Reef Fish media and social media into a frenzy providing free advertising.

It's a name, keep calm and carry on.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Problem is, what does "Bell" on its own mean? I think of a brand of tea.

Could not care about a name change. The bigger question is why is Vodafone walking away from NZ?

Corporations review their business on a regular cycle and change according success, changing markets and plans going forward. No different to Google closing Stadia.

I always thought it was to do with the bell that used to be in old phones that would ring to let you know someone was calling?

I suspect the Bell (US Phone company) was more than likely named after Alexander Graham Bell.

Could be wrong, but he was pretty big in Phones ;)

Well, I believe Vodafone NZ originated from this company at first:

'Bell' used by telecommunication companies because of Alexander Graham Bell who patented the telephone and telegraph. Eg.,Bell South, Bell Canada etc.

To me, 'One,' is unimaginative and definitely not catchy. Always thought Skinny was a memorable name.

Edit. Snap someone beat me to it

MikeAqua:

It always cracked me up that the Spark logo looks like crossed wires. (I assume it's meant to be a wild card character).

A new logo didn't improve service levels for spark.

I always saw telecoms new logo as a communicative mesh between different points
