Wanted: I have 3 or 4 new issues I didn't have before the latest "update" went in. I still have the failed no status issue but now sometimes no EPG, less/unresponsive EPG browsing, banner doesn't time out, remote stops responding for a minute or so when playing a recording. It seemed far more stable before the latest changes. The reboot once a week is a pain but I wouldn't mind too much if it worked ok the rest of the time. I don't even bother trying to set up recording more than 24 hours ahead of time because of how the EPG stops responding or buffers 3 or 4 button presses then does them all at once.

Yes I agree that it does seem even slower lately and we had to reboot on Saturday when the EPG vanished.  I tend to check my programming every day as I don't trust it - defeats the purpose of series link really.

I noticed something last night for the first time. Normally when the systemn becomes unresponsive and the record light stays on, and blue light doesn't flash when I press the remote, I pull the plug out the back and force a reboot.
Last night I was on the phone and I left the machine running when it stopped responding. About 2 minutes later it caught up.
For the three recorded shows I watched, pressing stop at the end took about 2 minutes to actually stop, and then I was able to delete and work through the menu's at the normal (almmost unreasonably slow) speed.

It seems that waiting sometimes does work, however the system is very slow for some commands (stop), but normal for others (fast-forward, delete etc).

I have to re-boot so often that I’ve been forced to fix castors onto the television cabinet just to make access easier to the power connections.

I’ve made plenty of mistakes in my life,  but getting the T-Box, is up there in the top ten.

Heh. Yeah, I also feel that it's probably the biggest waste of $500 I've made. Only light at the end of the tunnel is that everything we're encountering can be resolved by changes to the software. Hope the software supplier is hiring some more experience Java programmers who can sort things out. I mean, it can't get worse, can it? Absolutely should not have been released out of beta testing in this state. It has been a long long time since TC said it was coming, so the release was likely driven by the feeling that customers could be lost to Sky. Wouldn't want to give up my cable though.

Just remember that (according to some people), all this rebooting is completely normal ;)

Getting frustrated with T-box so about to vent on you ..sorry in advance.
But its just getting insane - things seem to be getting worse rather than better.
The T-box is clearly a total piece of sh*t that is nowhere near ready for market.
Regular reboots required to sort out locked up user interface - and a clumsy, ill-thought out user interface even when it is working at its normal snails pace. You could get RSi of the thumb navigating through the menu system, list of recordings or EPG. You cant search for anything and it has numerous other issues with how it handles buffering and recording.

Im starting to wonder whether the two year contract for this thing is enforceable given it is such a stretch to describe it as fit for purpose. Don't see why I should be locked in for two years of beta testing. Any thoughts on that?

Looking at a move to MySKy - its probably not perfect either but cant be worse!

If you are having major problems and haven't yet contacted TCL at the address they posted earlier (online.marketing@telstraclear.co.nz) you definitely should.

Hint #2: compensation.

Also, today marks exactly two weeks since I was told that there would be a new release in "1-2 weeks".  Hopefully they are as good as their word...

Tim@TelstraClear: any news?

People may mock my suggestion of a regular reboot as you do with a Computer and other housework. But I have now had my T-Box for approx 3.5 months and have had no issues with it.

Maybe TelstraClear should make this known to it's potential customers that to get a reliable service one must reboot on a regular basis .Smile MySky must be laughing all the way to the bank reading this tread.

I doubt that. MySky had way more issues in the first year of launch than the ones I've counted in this thread with the T-Box...but what options do us people outside of Wellington, Kapiti and Christchurch have apart from Freeview? Bring on IPTV!!!

Just to add that we have been experiencing the incredible lag for responding to remote for the last few days. Also, it seems that recordings now regulalry fail for no apparent reason.
