If so, then for $149 a month, I get 130Mbps cable internet with 250GB data cap, home phone line, and "Vodafone TV" which includes a DVR. That's a pretty good deal for me as I'm still paying $155.95 for a 150GB (old TCL pricing) which doesn't include TV or phone.

Another question I have for Vodafone - with this new TV box, can I add Sky on later or would I need to get a new box?

Bear in mind that the content on the TV option included at that price is absolutely nothing different to what you get for free.

When you say 'includes a DVR' what you really mean is that it simply is a DVR. Vodafone tv, if you don't add sky on, is not really any different to having freeview with a regular DVR, with the added pain that it will only work in one spot in your house, won't even receive freeview if your broadband goes down, it only has a 300GB hard drive, and if you switch ISPs you have to give the box back to Vodafone.

If you are in a ufb zone you could get the 100Mbps orcon service for $99 with unlimited data for less than that, and just buy your own DVR to receive freeview for a few hundred bucks that has a TB hard drive. Much better deal IMO.

So the difference is in one you get an optional bigger coupon? Now that's some serious motivation to switch to VF.

VF want you to spend more money than you'd save, dat logic.

Ever since the new plans in April I've been waiting for this change. Single bill and hopefully a $10 On Account discount for cable plans.....guess the jokes on me!

Thanks, yep - I understand that. For me, it works out well - I'm on Sky at the moment but have been thinking about cancelling for a while now. So if I go to Freeview, I'm going to need to buy a box anyway which, from some quick research, could cost up to $300. Also, in the street I'm in, I have no UFB options and none planned for ages - the best connection I could get that's not cable would be standard ADSL2. I'm also paying $10 a month for a VoiP line, and although I'd lose some VoiP features by going back to analogue, that's another $10 a month I could save if I wanted to.

Advantage of using vodafones dvr would be that if you decide you want to get sky added at some time it will just be a phone call to vodafone and they will change the package, no tech visit required, same when you want to downgrade back to freeview

True, although the downgrade might not be so easy as you may have to contract the sky part.

Does raise the question of what happens if you have recorded content from, say, sky movies or soho, and then downgrade to freeview. Do you keep that content to watch later, or will it be remotely deleted?

These are for cable network - there is no plans to expand this for the time being.

Apologies if this has been previously discussed or covered but can an existing VF customer switch from ADSL (Choice Pack) to Cable (Share Pack Fast) while keeping Sky with MySkyHDi etc?

I take it that (Assuming I can) I would lose the FREE MySkyHDi monthly discount.
