TimA: Something core2duo and better with 2gb of ram will be sweet with 3 INIC's

Have another machine but will need another network card; not the issue though I get similar issues on base metal.
I'm trying to figure out whether VFTV uses VLANs or anything as is done with similar IPTV setups overseas.
EDIT: Besides I have my soldering iron out already and am in the process of butchering by TP-Link switch...much more fun!

Nothing special. Just multicast. No separate VLANS.

Why do the test streams / STB consume bandwidth when routed through pfSense (VM) or Windows (bare metal) but not HG659 (what causes this traffic to be segregated)?

TimA: I thought all traffic goes through the PF Sense server???

Pondering here:
Could it be that the STB (or HG659) is applying a QoS tag, i.e. is VF over provisioning (i.e. say 300Mbps instead of 200/250Mbps or whatever it is), but set a particular tag to have say 30% of the total bandwidth, with anything untagged no more than 70% of the provisioned speed? The multicast traffic going down the non-QoS/DSCP tagged route is capping the maximum speed of general traffic.
It's just a random thought, I have no experience with Vodafone's fibre deployment..
TimA:
Ill get some Mb/s from outram and shift them to your connection.
Im a little lost on how your connection has gone.
Can you download cisco packet tracer and make a map of your network with everything in terms of the TV.
Cheers
