SteveC:
to confirm, @sansom, you are saying that it is currently cheaper to buy the new VTV box outright instead of leasing the older box on a current broadband bundle, but you will be looking at this after the full launch?
Personally, I just hope our T-Box keeps working for a lot longer!
Steve

So nice to hear from a T-Box faithful user!

In terms of your question, negative, it is cheaper to buy Gen1 VTV on a the Ultimate Home broadband bundle... included at no cost when signing up for 12 months.  Ultimate Home is $5/mth more than Smart Connect.. so Gen1 VTV is effectively $60 vs $179 for Gen2 VTV standalone, a $120 delta.

However this isn't comparing apples with apples.  Gen1 (no Wi-Fi, charge to your Vodafone bill) vs Gen2 box (Wi-Fi, charged to credit card, full self-serve online) which is only available standalone.  This will change.

On this page the difference is $15 unless I'm missing something https://www.vodafone.co.nz/broadband/internet-plans/
... but what the Retention Team say might be different again.

I bought the new box from Noel Leeming today. Pretty impressed with it. I have Spark Fibre, box is connected by Ethernet and streaming is seamless. I signed up for a Sky entertainment pack for a month and all's well. I like the fact the remote can control my Samsung TV as well making it easier. Whilst I need to play with recording/rewinding etc one thing that I struggle with us the guide, I'd rather it be on a blank background rather than a moving picture. Overall however.. early impressions are positive.

What is it like recording freeview?

Also does the three day rewind work on most free to air?

No hurry on answer, I'm on the fence at moment, thinking of replacing multiroom decoder, which is the same cost as Sky Start up any way, and if put movies or something on if it's a small box can move between TV's.

Thanks.

I'm wondering if they have had a bit of demand for this, 24hrs on from ordering and I'm yet to receive a Track/Trace code

I bought mine in store today and was told I was one of the first to buy it, so plenty around I think.

Come on @DjShadow and @Sideface ... this is Vodafone, you are on hold! (Going into the store is like using a Geekzone forum - it's cheating.)

Recording seems to be a piece of cake. Not sure what the limit is on channels is but I recorded 3 at once at the touch of one button. The guide flips back 3 days and I would say that to the claim of 90% of programmes being available looks pretty good.

The limit is which channels are you allowed to 'record' from. I don't imagine there will be a limit on simultaneous channels, because all you are doing it flagging the programme on someone's cloud so you can go back and stream it later. Nothing really gets recorded by that box. Other question is how long do you have to watch something after you've flagged it.
Is Prime available to 'record' or watch three day's back?
Thanks for the updates! :-)

Can confirm Prime is available for both recording and for 3 day playback. Not sure how long after recording you have to watch something..will investigate.

Sylvia Park, think it's only being sold at Vodafone and Noel Leeming Sylvia Park aside from online.
