Minutes are not VF to VF they are any time any network.

Speed issues tethering your iPad are probably due to multi-RAB issues which Vodafone have been working on but have not rolled out yet except I think maybe in Auckland. This affects iPhone 4 but not all devices (for example JohnR says his SG2 is not affected by this)

Can vodafone sign me up to a smart1 plan on no term and I get the 3gb?

All i can find on their website is 12 month / 24 month terms.

I don't know why vodafone would not offer no-term contracts.

Can you show me where I can find confirmation on that? It's not on the plan details or in the T&C's for the Smart2 plan. Just says double *anytime* minutes, which whilst anytime, has not been to anywhere in the past. Very happy to be proven wrong I'll add.

Edit: I just chatted online with an Alex from the VF Online Shop, and he\she confirmed the double minutes deal is indeed to any network. That's very cool!

Vodafone should have just come out saying, "we are looking at replacing this with that in 6 months time" everyone would have gone nuts and been pissed. After a month they would have been ok with it and by time it happen everyone would have been happy with the offer.

But no, vodafone marketing department strikes again says they are taking something away and we have to "wait and see"
People just want to know what is going on and what will replace something. Really not much to ask as we are playing for the account.

The worst thing about vodafone is not the plans etc its the marketing department and letting there customer hang for "what might happen"

Agree totally, when you tell customers you are going to remove a significant benefit they value, BUT WAIT we are going to give you a "knock your socks off"new benefit, we just won't tell you WHAT for a while, you are just asking for a lot of dissatisfied unhappy CUSTOMERS.

This is secret squirrel, build up the excitement, Marketing bulls**t sounds like it came from the same people who organised the Vodafone Store burglary fiasco.

I must say I am very happy with the reinstatement of the 3Gb of Data, but if I was a cynical person I might wonder if the removal and then magnanimous reinstatement was not another of this infamous Marketing Departments schemes.

Vodafone might have removed the 3GB deal as they probably knew that with the new iOS 5 automatic sync with the cloud feature, they might be in trouble?

I say good on VF for responding to customer feedback on this issue.... maybe its a sign of a new way they're going to do things?

Have they said that by extending the current offer they won't be bringing out the new 'blow your socks off options'???
I'm confused on this now..... and really I'd like to know definitively what is, and what is not happening.

OK soo this maybe the way that VF wish to continue to do their marketing, because the controversy gets them headlines (and from a marketing perspective is that a bad thing??). However on the other hand, I don't think I'm the only one thats getting wary of this marketing style, which means phrases like 'blow-your-socks-off' don't have the impact on me that VF would like. Which means its easier for me to become an ex customer rather than remain a current one.

I like how the VF's Kursten Shalfoon refers to 3GB as a "large amont of data".

I guess that means that aren't replacing the promo with plans that have more data. Instead, the reading between the lines says they want to get more revenue from the existing data....and perhaps trade off a few customers who may leave in order to make more money overall.

I can see than no caring too much about the $40 / month Smart One folk who use 3GB and never make phone calls. It probably costs VFNZ money to have them on board.

That said....I would like to see a 5GB plan for about $100 / month. Charge me another $30 for an extra 5GB...then per MB (1-2 cents?)

I'm glad this isn't changing, thanks VF. The $40 per month smart1 suits me perfectly. Great data, great texts and sufficient talk time especially with best mate.

The only way the "new" offer would've helped me was if it was identical to smart1 but cheaper - I don't think they would've done that so thanks for listening to everyone VF.

When I signed up for smart phone plan from VF, I was quite attracted by the bonus 3GB data. Now I've had the phone for about a year, I've settled into a usage pattern where I have 3G data on full-time and almost never use wifi (I found this better on battery life than switching between the two). I'm in the last day of my current billing cycle and my data usage for the month is just under 130MB. I make no effort to reduce the data I consume (having the 3GB limit currently) and while everyone's different, I'd suggest that 250MB is going to be just fine for a big chunk of the market. You probably wouldn't have been able to convince me of this a year ago.

No, he's saying just what he wrote. That he uses a lot less than he thought he would, and he is under the impressions a large number of users would be in the same situation as him.

IMO the strong reaction from users here indicates a majority of them use much more than 250Mb.

Or want the ability to not be constrained. Although I rarely get close to my cap I love the fact that I don't have to worry about going over my cap.

Yes but to be fair the new offer was highly unlikely to be only 250Mb especially given that Telecom offers more.
