I'm not hugely upset by the branding issue, I'm more concerned (OK not really) about One focusing on its core business which is cellular and divesting the company of areas that don't fit into its future portfolio.  The HFC network was primarily there to support the T-Box television network.  With the advent of high speed fibre it's not necessary for One to own a high speed network when there are many network providers using the Chorus fibre backbone and local distribution networks.  Is the HFC network about to go ??

I imagine they'll hang onto that for a bit yet - they paid a fair amount to get it built and using their own network means they pay Chorus $0 per month to rent a line off them; all profits go straight back into the company.

Probably not, they had the opportunity to go that way a few years ago when FTTH/UFB became a thing.
As I understand it, if they stop using their HFC network, then they are required to remediate it by actually tearing down all the overhead coax wire, repeaters, etc., etc. This would cost several truckloads of money, so it is actually cheaper for them to keep it in use.

@PolicyGuy

After a query to Tony Baird it appears vfone intend to upgrade the Docsis 3.1 network to Docsis 4.0.

Not bad but I think I'll stay on my Medium one as it works best for me.

Group pricing is good for the One Plan.

Now expecting 2degrees and Spark to offer the same deal.

I see the generic fair use policy still applies. I wonder what the soft cap is

Holy Christ, I don't even use that much on my fibre connection.

If it really is 1TB I can see some moron tethering their phone to their PC and downloading the internet, making it slow-w-w for everyone else in no time.

If I'm reading it right there is no data cap on hotspotting?

I could see this becoming a fixed broadband replacement for people with basic needs if living alone or in a flatting situation. I hope the network can cope with all that load.

I think you mean One.Terrabyte.

Curious that they do not include unlimited MMS. I vaguely recall this being the case on the Smart for iPhone plans back in the day.

I’m assuming companions will also get unlimited data each for $35/month? If so, that’s truly ripped the value out of Spark and 2d!

That's affirmative

Spark & 2D will no doubt come out with their version of unlimited max data speed mobile plan to avoid the churn

If it means Spark will no longer restrict sharers to the $100/month plan then that’s something I’ll be all for!
