Just read some previews of the Samsung UltraSmart F700, and it sounds a lot like my ideal handset! Its recently been unveiled at the 3GSM forum, in Barcelona, and looks to be some serious competition for the iPhone. My biggest concern will be which OS it runs - I'm hoping its either Symbian or maybe a Mac OS X derivative, as coyly suggested by one article.
So now we wait (impatiently on my part) to see whether VF bring it in, or a parallel importer does, and how much will it cost??
Apple would jump all over it if it had any sort of level of OSX resemblance.
A number of asian companies (particulary Meizu are making iPhone killers - similar functionality but with 3G support and better cameras. Some of Samsungs more recent phones are pretty impressive, although unfortunately they're all asian market models which won't work over here until such time as people work out how to unlock them. Engadget mobile tends to mention these wondrous alternatives on a fairly regular basis. The iPhone is a dead loss without 3G support IMHO so better alternatives would be welcome assuming they work well.
