I'm trying to get Vodafone to send me the APN settings OTA but it seems their website stopped being updated with the Samsung SIII:

You can't OTA settings to Android, They should be picked up off the SIM card or manually entered

Interesting you say that. My settings were there, so I decided to delete and send again - using the Samsung Galaxy SIII option in the menu. The settings were received on my Samsung S5 and actually applied.

If they work or not is another problem - currently can send/receive MMS to myself, and receive from wife (2degrees) but no SMS I send from Vodafone reach her mobile on 2degrees.

The settings would be picked back up off the SIM card or did the handset display install settings when you sent them from the website?

If the issue is only with SMS then OTA settings are not going to help, These are for internet and MMS / PXT

Have you checked she has not added your mobile number to the handset black list?

I have just reset my Nokia Lumia 1020 and put her microSIM there. There's no blocking in action. I receive her SMS/MMS but she only receives my SMS - sent five or six MMS in the last 30 minutes and nothing shows up.

I know my MMS is working from myself to my own device and to yours... I know her device is sending MMS out.

As you say "talk to the origin operator" - in this case Vodafone. But you're on holiday, so go have a nap!

Don't worry - working now! Sent a message from the S5 but instead of using "Gallery" to select a photo I used "Photos" and it converted and sent it...

Blame Android.

My gut is saying a max attachment size. I know that when sending MMS it will say resizing at some stage, so maybe the gallery workflow pipeline is missing that step.

Yes, I think it's the resize part of it. A bit sad there's no warning or error message anywhere.

I can pick this up if you want to DM me a summary. I speak to our partner regularly and can get it investigated at a minimum!

I just got my S5 and haven't actually tried MMS yet, but I always had a similar issue with my old S2 (last Touchwiz device), when sending from the Gallery people who were on VF wouldn't receive my MMS messages, but people on Telecom would which made me think that the two networks could have different max MMS sizes. The Samsung Messages app doesn't have any options for setting the max image/attachment size like the stock Android one does.
