Hi All,

I would like to move to Xnet Fusion. I have signed up to broadband with Xnet using the online form today. Once I work out what my set up will be I  will move to Fusion.

I am looking at getting a wag54gp2 as I have an old modem which will not do adsl2 (and have heard new modems might be quicker) so I thought it best to get the one stop shop.

I have two cordless phones. One is upstairs with the jackpoint also upstairs. One is downstairs and the pc is downstairs. I was aiming on having the router downstairs to connect the main phone and the pc to it. How do I connect the upstairs phone to this router as my wife is really against having the base station downstairs.

I can only think of these options:
1. Base station is downstairs and cordless phone can be anywhere (easy option).
2. Have a very long cord going upstairs to base station from router (not practical).
3. Call in a technician to rewire jackpoint upstairs to connect to router? (not sure it this can be done and cost involved)

Is there any other options?

Thanks.

Hi,

I asked a very similiar question the other day and Grant_k kindly provided this link which has some instructions on how to wire up the house so your jackpoints are connected to the VfX properly.

http://www.gpforums.co.nz/thread/298231/?s=

There's a fair bit of stuff in there so if you're not technically sound or confident it might be better to just go with the base station downstairs and the cordless upstairs.

Cheers,

Thanks Sinn and Fraser for your replys.

I am on the North Shore.

Looks like I will have to go with option one and takes the heat then see what can be done.

Just had the call back from Xnet already so that is cool.

Why not buy a second handset for your cordless phone?

Then you will have a second recharging cradle so your wife won't have to walk downstairs all the time Smile

Aha!  So now the reason for your Nickname is public knowledge Phil Smile

Having been a fan of the movie myself, I figured it might be something like that, what with you being ex Air Force and all...

Now, tonight -- DON'T FORGET -- be sure to make your wife a peace offering from the many grateful customers here Wink

Hi Maverick, I thought that might be were you got your name from, yes I am a sucker for this movie. I just had a large birthday party and I wore maverick and my mate had wingman shirts, Top Gun movie playing in the backgound also. Very cool night.

And we have this to look forward to, ToP Gun on Blu Ray. Would post a pic but can not see how yet.

Also:
Great service so far from Xnet. I have found it very hard (and I am quite good at learning about technology) to get my head around the hardware. I think it could be explained better on the website so will offer suggestions once I have a think on it. These services are starting to hit mainstream so gateways, routers, ndsl, adaptors etc means nothing to the average joe.

Thanks.
