I have a couple VF SIM's from a few years ago, and just tried to activate two of them. Sealed packaging, never used before, etc.

However, neither are working. Both give me 'Emergency Calls only'.

Does anyone what know VF's policy is for expiry of unused SIM's? I can't find it anywhere on their website. These should have come with $20 credit each, so I'd like to get them working if possible.

Johnr mentioned once that unused (sealed in packaging) sims expire after a set period of time (it was fairly low too). I was very surprised about that and it is not something you would expect.

I saw some very good prepay numbers and I considered buying them and reselling them. I'm glad I didn't as they would have expired by the time I would have wanted to sell them without any indication that that would happen.

Well I don't really care about the numbers, but I'd like to keep the credit and get working SIM's.

Has anyone been able to get replacement SIM's or a credit transfer in this case?

I had this with sims that came with some really cheap old stock phones once. From memory which is not the best, the store swapped them out for new ones, but I ended up with ickky 021+8digit numbers

I'll try that. They already have 021+8 digit numbers, so I'm not worried about that. I'm just hoping to keep the $20 credit (I have 6 of these so it adds up).

Do they say they have credit on the actual packaging of the card? They really should really have a expiry date on the sim if they do expire, to be fair to consumers.
