On hold to Vodafone (plan change = on account discount went missing). I was just thinking to myself "Well, this is a pleasant change, no Sway on endless repeat..." when BANG! Hellooo Ms Runga!

It's the hope that kills you...

NB. This is intended to be a lighthearted post. No need for any fun police to jump on me.

Try working there for 2 years every time you transferred you would get tormented by the hold music.
Some may say its a breach of human rights.

It can be enough to make you look forward to calling Chorus so you could listen to their hold music for a change.

Although last time I called a VF number it was as a customer not an employee and had no time on hold at all.

Please note: I have a professional bias towards Vodafone.

Pfwoah, they subject the CSRs to the hold music too!? If not human rights violation, certainly something Worksafe should be investigating!

I got to know Savage Garden's song To the Moon and Back quite intimately when I worked there. As well as Darren Hayes's singular solo effort. You had to listen to it when warm handshaking to customer services (back then).

Heck I remember back when I was working for Vodafone in 2008 having Bic Runga as hold music for some internal stuff. The fact they expose people to that is just terrible.

@mdf I thought you'd want the YouTube video to practice your singing skills for next time you call them:

Edit: Vodafone if you're reading this please change it to the default Cisco Callmanager music. It is the best hold music out.

When you changed plan maybe the new plan was not entitled to the discount,

Did you check before requesting the plan change?

Seriously that song should be outlawed under the Geneva Convention :-P

Yep, checked in advance and the new plan (FibreX Max) is eligible. Looks like the part month billing cycle was to blame (certainly confused me and both CSRs I spoke to). Seems to have affected others too (see the gigbit thread). All sorted now.
