I've had the same prepay number for around 10 years.  I'm looking at moving onto a contract with a data plan.  I was told yesterday by a vodafone employee that if I wait until mid May it will be possible to keep my prepay number.

Does anyone know anything about this or can confirm it is correct?

I am not sure about the dates, but yes Vodafone NZ is working on their processes to allow moving Prepay to accounts - and should be sometime in the mentioned timeframe, IIRC.

It is correct however I haven't heard a confirmed date yet other than the month of May - Maybe one of the VF guys can confirm this.

Ive being holding out for several years now, dont hold your breath that they come thru this time.

In hindsight I should have bitten the bullet early on and changed to a contract number range and just eaten the loss of cards etc.

Correct me if I am wrong, if your contract is 24 months and you're not out of that period yet, you'd have to pay some sort of fee?

Correct, they usually have an early disconnection fee like ISP's do (well some) for disconnecting your DSL early.
Its been 3 yerars now since Ive ahd this number, Im pretty sure its off the official contract :)

Yeah just heard today that they have had to delay the launch due to system issues - typical!
