I always thought 111 was free?

Anyone from Vodafone (or anyone who knows how 111 works) could explain how this could happen?

It is worth noting that 111 is not always free - operators have been able to charge for malicious calls since 2002. While this does not routinely happen, the ability is there to charge if needed. Their is a media release for the $200 announcement here https://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/BU0207/S00195.htm

This is correct, I used to manage the floor of the operators that take 111 calls and take overflow calls during major events. The operators can code calls for various scenarios such as repeat calls when kids are playing, or when no response is received. The above issue looks to be separate though and likely relates to the transfer of the call not being handled correctly.

JP is most likely unfamiliar with Reddit (and xposting).

 

We have no established process to 'verify' ourselves (VF) on Reddit so asking for customer details via Reddit PM isn't a good idea.
