I have been looking to get a new phone as my old one Samsung Galaxy J8 wont work next year once ONE & Spark turns off there 3G network in 2025.

Will either of these phones work on the new network??

Samsung Galaxy A05s (2023) - https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/MPHSAM0305708/Samsung-Galaxy-A05s-2023-Dual-SIM-Smartphone---4GB

Samsung Galaxy A06 (2024) - https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/MPHSAM1306500/Samsung-Galaxy-A06-2024-Dual-SIM-Smartphone-4GB64G

They're both listed on https://one.nz/our-networks/volte/#voltecapable as VoLTE and VoLTE Roaming supported, so it should be fine, but do note the warning before the brands list:

If your phone was not purchased from One NZ (for example via another network operator, parallel importer or overseas) but it is the same phone model as listed below, then it is likely to operate correctly although we cannot guarantee this.

PB Tech say supported on all three networks so it should be fine (helps for CGA/etc purposes at least), but maybe keep a print out of their product page with your receipt just in case you need to make a claim of misrepresentation.

Can you try and price match these Samsungs at a One NZ shop or their online store? It would remove network compatibility uncertainty.

@Asteros The mobile carriers do not have a price match policy why would they even bother? They make next to nothing on the handsets

There's never any harm in asking...

@Mehrts You think front line staff can just change the prices of handsets? keep dreaming!

Like I said, there's never any harm in asking. The worst thing they'll say is "no".

There's no need to get on your high horse about such a trivial thing.

@Mehrts I am not on a high horse and prices are set by the bean counters in head office and carriers will not price match PBtech etc..

@Asteros There will be no network compatibility issues on the Samsung handsets between NZ networks

The model (and sub model) needs to have the carriers VoLTE profile loaded

To add to the drama, I saw a thread where someone purchased a Motorola from PB Tech and it worked on VoLTE with 2degrees but not One or Spark

it was discovered this was designed for Australian Optus network and has the 2degress profile because that carrier is the Optus roaming partner for NZ
