i can't find any of this info on vodafone's website here(click on prepay):

http://www.vodafone.co.nz/shop/mobileHome.jsp

do people have to signup for this or is it included in all prepay plans including the old classic plans? it would be great if vodafone just put this on all prepay plans automatically without people having to signup.

The website goes live on Monday... the plans themselves kick off on Monday for Prepay and a week later for On Account.

cheers

Am I missing something here?

Customers have taken to the $1/day casual rate in the hundreds of thousands. They love the flexibility, they love the accessibility of the internet on the move and they tell us they want more. So now they can get ten times the amount on either Prepay or On Account and use it when they need it.

Sure, you get ten times the amount of data, but it's also ten times the price. Is there something here that I'm not aware of, or is it really just the same deal that we already have?

Yes, you are missing an important bit... $1/day gives you 10MB. If you use 5MB then at midnight it resets - and you only have 10MB next day, and so on. If you use more than 10MB on that day you pay the excess automatically.

With this plan you pay $10 for 100MB, but you can use 20MB today (not paying any excess, 1MB tomorrow, and so). This only resets at the end of the month.

So, for example if you are a Vodafone account customer with a base20 plan, could you add the $10 data plan?

Oh and I did ring Vodafone, but as the service is not available yet this knowledge is not widely known.

It's just I have the old data plans and this 'new' plan eclipses them.

Guess I could bide my time and wait till Monday. :-)

Woww, this is more exciting than getting a new pair of socks at Christmas.

Aha! I knew there must be something different about it :)

Apparently if you are on PrePay, you can buy multiple 100mb addons in any given month for $10 each if required.

I don't think this is the case for on account customers though - which if true, is disappointing.

Couple queries:

The website mentions "The mobile internet 100MB bundle rolls over each month but customers can opt out at any time."  So any unused data goes to the next month, correct?  So theoretically if you didn't use your data for 6 months you'd have 600Mb accrued? Does this ever expire?

Also, can this plan be applied to data cards?  If it can, I'll assume there is a penalty to pay for those of us already on contracted data? (I'm halfway through my 24months, on 1Gb).

I think "roll over" means "charged to your account every month", hence the "customers can opt out at any time".

The press release clearly says it can be used on data cards.

Thanks Vodafone. Great plan. Suits me perfectly. Count me in on the 15th of April!

Sounds useful, and on prepay as well means its viable to have it on a datacard etc that I only use when out.
