Has anyone noticed a speed increase on the Vodafone 3G network from this morning? I'm now getting a solid 3+ mbit down and 1.5mbit up on my iPhone 4.

I believe Vodafone have recently deployed some new hardware to increase speeds on the network.

Nice, just checked and getting regular 3800+ down and 1500+ up in East Tamaki, something i've only seen on XT before. Stoked, now to increase data caps. Just in time for Christmas :)

4.6mb down, 1.7 mb up, here in Christchurch, this morning. This is bloody amazing speed. It's on par with XT speed finally Upload speed is faster than XT tho. I will go home and try again in my rural town.

If it isnt Mimo then it must be dual carrier, which is really cool and a feature of 3GPP Rel8. But the fact is that there is not likely to be any handsets and very few dongles that support this.
Maybe why Vodafone were complaining about the fact we follow APAC frequencies and not that of the states or the Eu.

The work was done on what Vodafone already had live in the network so not dual carrier either not caching on the mobile network just fine tuning what we had to make it better

I read earlier this month that Vodafone NZ is down 35,000 customers in the quarter ending September.  That’s two months ago so they have most probably lost a lot more since then.

Less people using the bandwidth could account for a perceived Speed increase?

Not even close as the packet switch data traffic usage is climbing at a rapid rate and many of those customers on 2D still have to use the Vodafone NZ network.

Their dual carrier sites has been live for ~6 weeks across large parts of their network.
