A colleague is looking at the possibility of a group buy of digitnetworks.com x100p cards from the USA.

I believe he is looking for at least nine takers @ $50 per card. His contact details will be provided upon request (unless he comes out of the closet, and posts on here!).

Are these devices actually OK for NZ conditions? One of the big problems with the original x100p's was the fact the impedance was wrong for NZ lines.

Yeah, but that doesn't matter if you are merely using the X100P to provide an FXO port for Asterisk.  In that case, you are probably just connecting the X100P to an FXS port out of a Linksys device.

So long as the cable length is short, the impedance mismatch doesn't matter at all.

In saying this, I'm assuming that was Tony's intended purpose for the X100P cards???

Hi Tony,

I have a whole bunch (5) of X100p's (motorola chip) here if your colleague is interested.  I was using them for testing.  All work, and all are in theit antistatic bags etc.

Also have some other Asterisk/Digium gear if any one ever is looking. TDM400 with the FXO and FSX daughter cards, and some SIP handsets.

Cheers

I found that the X100 was pretty poor when connected to the Telecom network, but it did work ok with connecting to a Linksys FXO.

We used both a Digium X100P and a standard Intel Win Modem.

The following modems should work:
Ambient MD3200
Intel 537PG and 537PU
Motorola 62802

care to elaborate on "pretty poor when connected to the Telecom network", because that's exactly what I'm wanting to do with it... :)

echo just bad, some times it would appear to be ok, then other times it would be shocking.  If you want something that works 100% I would recommend the Digium Wildcard TDM400P

Interesting... sounds like a PITA...  I'd love a '400, but with an FXO card it's like $300+, unless you can find one cheaper ;)

skyplonk prehaps?

Ofcourse, you could wait for WxC, and flag the FXO all together.  Also the X100 may work on your line, just depends on the quality of the line I believe...

Ahh right, gotcha. Yeah, well, I've left skyplonk my email above - can't see any way of PM'ing on this board, so just have to hope he sees it and mails me.

I'll definately look at WxC when they do get asterisk working... when.... in the meantime, I wish to push on with asterisk ;)

Cheers :)

the email button sends a PM, but it looks like he has PM turned off.

What part of NZ are you in?  Other options are to have a look at any modems you have lying around, if they have the chipsets above, they may work.

Mmmm did that lol - appears I've helped enough poor suckers out who are still on dialup to exhaust my modem supplies haha

I'm in sunny Hawkes Bay :)
