I currently have a world exchange VOIP phone number and have had this for years. I hardly use this number now, is only on when I'm at my desktop computer and most of the inbound calls are spam / marketing types.

My question is. Can I park this number up for later use? Can I port the number to a free service?

Thanks

I don't know of any free voice service in NZ which allows you to port in a fixed line number.

Why would you want to park a number anyway?  Just get a new one if you ever decide to take up fixed line in the future - however passingly unlikely that is ;)

2talk would be $7 month to host the line; but no free option I'm aware of.
