I've been using 2talk for years with 4 phone lines, without issue, using an old Grandstream GXP2000 device (for 3 office lines), and a Grandstream HT801 (for 1 home line).

Just got a new Grandstream GXP2170 phone (to replace the GXP2000), as the gxp2000 was getting old and having sound issues.
But cannot make outbound calls via the 2170, only receive incoming calls.

I'm using all the same settings as the old GXP2000, e.g. Sip Server / Outbound proxy = tls.2talk.co.nz, and correct user ID and password.

The 2talk portal shows the line as registered, and I'm only trying one line by itself first (rather than all lines).

Syslog debugging gives me this error when attempting an outbound call from an 06 number to a 021 mobile number (any outbound number fails):
(removed the ip and numbers)

(542)SIP/2.0 401 Unauthorized..Via: SIP/2.0/UDP xxx.xx.xxx.xx:5062;branch=z9hG4bK408286934;received=xxx.xx.xxx.xx;rport=5062..From: "XXX" <sip:06xxxxxxx@tls.2talk.co.nz>;tag=1407541580..To: <sip:021xxxxxx@tls.2talk.co.nz>;

I've tried changing my main 2talk password, and tested this successfully back in the old gxp2000 device, but the gxp2170 still fails to make outbound calls, and gives the error above.

Tried 2talk support chat, but as its the weekend there is no response.

Anyone here using one of the Grandstream GXP21xx devices?

I dont know if it will make a difference.

Just re-read your post.

Have you got a dial plan?

It would look something like this.

[2-9]xxxxxx|0[34679][2-9]xxxxxx|0210xxxxxxx|021[12]xxxxxx|021[3-9]xxxxx|02[0279]xxxxxxx|0204xxxxxxx|0240xxxxxx|024[1-9]xxxxxxx|0282[4-5]xxxxxx|050xxxxxxx|070xxxxxxx|080xxxxxxx|00xxxxxxx.|01[08]|017xx|12[356]|[19]11|*55|023xxxxxxxx|01[1234569]x.|02[56]x.|028[013456789]x.|0282[0123467890]|0282[01236789]|05[1-9]x.|08[1-9]x.|0[34679][0-1]x.|1[03456789]x.|11[023456789]x.|12[0124789]x.|*[012346789]x.|*5[012346789]x.

As above, no need to use TLS. Just use good old UDP and sip.2talk.co.nz

Tried sip.2talk.co.nz, and added dial plan (as above) but same issue, can't make outbound calls, and same 401 error in syslog debug.

I get a dial tone, enter a number, but no calling tone, the gxp2170 just says: Calling...

Also tried options for NAT Traversal = Keep Alive, and also STUN (using stun.2talk.co.nz), but no luck.

Update... finally got outbound calls working!

With the help of some posts on reddit, I changed the SIP Transport from UDP to TLS/TCP, and can now make outbound calls.
Might be a bug with the current firmware: https://www.reddit.com/r/VOIP/comments/997l36/need_help_with_grandstream_that_cant_call_out/

Huh?!

....I knew there was a reason I steered clear of Grandstream.

Are you registered to sip.2talk.co.nz? But using TCP instead?

I always find sip on udp will fail 90%, change to tcp, problem gone.

Sh1t! I must just be lucky then!

I don't have a single production PBX running SIP on TCP.... just under 300-odd of them lol.

Yes the only way I could get the GXP2170 to work (with 4 SIP lines) via sip.2talk.co.nz was to use SIP Transport = TLS/TCP
When set to UDP, I couldn't make outbound calls.
