These latest builds do feel quite snappy, and driver support has improved in my experience. I had problems with fans until the last two builds, so I would say that seems to be heading in the right direction. Power management issues are better.

They still haven't fixed the problem where if an App isn't the default (Like Chrome) it gives you a pop up box to say "set as default" but when you click that, Windows tells you to open the program app to do it. Could possibly be a chrome issue but had a similar thing with a couple of other apps too.

I think they have gone a tiny bit too dark. I can't recall specific build numbers but a few weeks ago the colours were better.

Again I can't recall which version it was, but the power/restart etc was placed elsewhere (top near name perhaps), and I preferred that over where it is now.

Installing this build now. Unfortunatelly up until 10130 video drivers for this ASUS tablet I am using are really bad - things wouldn't appear on the screen, lines were missing, etc.

I do blame this on ASUS devices but would expect for display to be something nailed - even with a generic driver.

Anyway, it's a test tablet, if things don't work, too bad. Also can't install Windows 8 back as there's no restore partition and there's no way to boot from an external device. So will keep pushing forward...

I do worry about my HP laptop for example: latest model, fingerprint scanner, NFC tag, touchscreen. I am very pessimist, and I'd like to see this US$ 2000+ laptop getting proper updates - but you know things not always work like that.

Just downloaded that, thanks. What's the best way to install, given I have a W7 license and need to do a clean install? Should I just wait a month and get the RTM ISO? Should I install W7 then SP1 now, then use the ISO to upgrade? Should I install the ISO from scratch?

I can put up with the 9926 build for another month or so. Reinstalling and reconfiguring all my software, backup jobs, backups (Crashplan, BT Sync, etc) is a real PIT

Read this on a blog:

You totally missed one of the best features! When you snap a program to either side of the screen, the Alt+tab app picker displays in the opposite side so you can easily choose what to snap, if anything in that space.

Doesn't work for me, did MS remove it?

Also supposedly Explorer has a 'Home' tab, also not present for me.

If you want the license I would think it would probably be best to go along the lines of:
1) Wipe what you have and install and re-activate W7, making sure to get it up to SP1 if it isn't already (maybe best to dao all updates, not sure)
2) Use the ISO (on as USB stick or DVD) to do an in-place upgrade to W10 Build 10162.

That should pretty much cover you for all eventualities.

Not sure about the snapping but my Explorer has the Home tab.

My HP Elite X2 1011 is running Windows 10 fine with all the drivers, WiGig dock etc.  It will be similar build and drivers to your HP

If you want to do a clean install, boot off your 10162 ISO

If you want to keep all your files, apps, settings in place, upgrade your 9926 to 10162

If you want the official Win10 license, upgrade your activated Win7SP1 machine through Windows Update between July 29, 2015 and July 29, 2016

Interestingly, the 10130 EN_GB ISO doesn't work for me at all. On a USB stick it starts to book but then hangs. Run from windows nothing happens. The old 9926 USB stick works fine.

I guess I'll try the EN_US ISO, and just found 10162.

Interesting. My ASUS tablet is now no longer activated. It seems it doesn't have a UEFI key either because when I clicked Activate Windows says the key is invalid. So I entered the *-TXYCV key from the Windows Insider page and it's now done. Wonder what happened there.

It seems after installing 10162 the problems with display on this ASUS tablet have disappeared.
