The enhancements have not been released -- but, rumours of the start menu returning, and booting straight to desktop.
Hopefully metro can be disabled -- there is no good reason to force this on desktop users.
I'm tired of showing people how to escape metro. Feels like being in a madhouse (as a casual windows 8 user, I've stuck to windows 7 otherwise).

if you disable "Metro" how would you run any of the Windows Store apps? Or there are no Windows 8 Modern apps that you want to run?
