So far pen input can be a bit finicky as it doesn't always hit the target, re-calibrated the digitzer and it's a bit better.

keyboard is def smaller than a laptop, and feels far smaller than my Envy X2 - not sure if it is though.

How did you get on with Phtotshop CC? You use Premiere or After Effects at all?

They run fine on my Surface Pro 2, obviously a bit easier to use when you're plugged into an external display

The Wacom digitizer so far is junk, inaccurate and doesn't register quick clicks. The accuracy drifts too much, as the cursor doesn't follow the pen, or is 0.5 cm away in some cases, meaning you have to pay attention to the cursor instead of the tip of the pen which feels super unnatural.

Photoshop UI is also far too small for the display, Adobe was going on about hiDPI mode coming out eventually.

Using the tablet as a cintiq like device so far is not looking good. Also keyboard and pen stop responding sometimes, until doing a sleep wake cycle, or reset.

No connected standby in 64bit so sleep and wake are tedious, taking 2-3 seconds to switch the display on in power-save mode.

Drivers are going to have to get a whole lot better in the next two weeks or I'm going to have to return the unit I think.

Any ideas on a place to buy a Surface Pro from someone who will actually have some product knowledge?

My current 'in my head it sounds like a good idea' plan is to buy a largish monitor and a full size blue tooth keyboard so I can set the Surface up as a desktop at home. That means I have to buy compatible bits.

I'm getting tired of the 'Uh, I don't know' at the usual big box retailers.

Didn't anybody tell you I was a hacker?

The wacom digitizer inaccuracy is probably just due to wacoms technology, since even my intuos 5 large has a much smaller 'sensitive area' than the actual size of the wacom tablet surface because wacom has a hard time being accurate around the edges, this probably could have been fixed by running the Pro 2 diigtizer sensor over the entire glass panel, meaning that it still detects the edges of the LCD well. Accuracy usually only drifts in the edge of the screen, where all Photoshops UI elements are! might try move them closer into the centre and see how I get on.

It has Mini Display Port in and Display Port Out so you can daisy chain and use 2 monitors on the Surface Pro 2

One of the things that is coming through on early reviews is the reviewer saying something along the lines of 'I typed all day on my Surface Pro and now my hands are sore and my neck is stiff'. This kind of thing really gets up my nose as it would be the same on any laptop! Mobile computers, of any kind, simply aren't designed for all day desk use.

I wish there was more 'this is how I configured my Surface Pro with a full size monitor and keyboard for working at my desk... This was the easy part, this was difficult and this is how it worked overall.'

Oh well, we can but dream.

After a bit more play I'm getting used to watching the mouse pointer/cursor and not the pen, done a tiny bit of editing on the tablet and I'm beginning to enjoy using it. Had a client meeting where I made some adjustments on the fly, then processed some 500MB files into Jpegs in a matter of seconds, then loaded it onto a USB stick.

After having a close look at the Surface Pro 2 I felt slightly underwhelmed. Until the docking stations are available its desktop ability is limited (I think the screen is too small) and as a tablet its pretty bulky. If you're out and about a lot and need a lot of power it seems ideal, if not a laptop still seems to be the best option.

Got the Surface Pro 2 here. One disappointment is the fact the Mail app still doesn't hyperlinkg Geekzone emails correctly.

Setup was fast and painless. The 200GB Skydrive add-on and one year of Skype services are nice bonus.

Pretty impressed with speed so far... Will install other apps when back home.

this is a known issue that I'm working on getting fixed

you could also fix from your end by sending HTML mail instead of texts
